Oops too late the players were traded so to save face he offered Dombrowski as the sacrificial lamb.

Mr. D in my opinion is one of the best GMs in baseball and will have no problem finding a job. The Tigers loss will be someone's gain.

If anyone should be fired its the coaching staff at Toledo who fail on an epic basis to develop talent moving up the ladder and get them big league ready especially pitching.

The alternate story is that Dombrowski was looking at other options and Mr. I decided, "Okay, and I'll make it easier on you by releasing your now rather than after the season." No problem. Mr. I had the hand picked successor in the house and ready to step up.

I believe this might be similar to the Red Wings, but I don't follow hockey so I'm not up what happened there a few months ago...

BTW, nice debut by Boyd. Amazing but the Tigers got two strong performances from Norris and Boyd, the kids, since Sunday.

You do realize that there was no talent in the Tigers farm system. Dombrowski sold the farm system to win now and it failed. Thus Mr. I let him out of his position.

RE: O/T: Tigers Trade Price to Toronto
One thing I've been thinking, now, with 20 - 20 hindsight:

Should we have traded Price, who apparently wants to play in a Southern city and supposedly a NL one, so he can bat, but kept Soria and maybe Cespedes.

Norris and Boyd might win some games. Soria would allow us to win some games by closing them out. Miggy will be back in what 10 - 14 days? Cespedes is a nice bat and excellent defender in LF, and just might have been MORE inclined to sign with DET if he hadn't be traded (I'm aware of his contract 5-day negotiating windows).

Possible we might have been able to do a 'mini-retool' AND stay in the pennant race. Maybe???

That said, we 'kissed this season off' BUT we'll be a much better team next year and in the future with a better farm system. We can spend say 40M in the off season to augment what trades brought.
