I'd love to find a statistic to see how many tackles he broke in his career.

Yep. It was like PJ said -- it got to the point you just expected him to do something special, because he did.

AP is still the greatest running back I've ever seen play in person. Those were great times.

The funny thing is that GS should have the #2 guy on the list too. Jermaine Austin (2002-2005) ran for 5411 yards (6.3 YPC), 33 TD's, 33 100 yard+ games, and was a 3 time all american, yet he was overshadowed because he followed Peterson.... but make no mistake, he was a baaaaaad man between the tackles.

That guy was built like a wrecking ball.

Yeah, Jermaine is my height, but far denser. Great kid, now a teacher and coach at McIntosh County Academy, or was last time I checked.

And no disrespect to Jermaine, but I'm not even sure he should be No. 2 on the list of GS all-time great B-backs. Joe Ross is up there somewhere. Rod Russell wasn't bad either, though I think he's be third to Austin/Ross.

Absolutely correct about Joe Ross... if only he'd stayed healthy. He played most of his SR season on one leg and was still an all american and got drafted.

AP was a true guinea. And a genuinely great guy.
