Need a bunch of drunk guys in lederhosen and wooden shoes doing something.

None of the 13 original colonies were settled by Italians. The Italians came to the states much later. Same thing with NY which was settled by the Dutch. Despite this there are now many Italian Americans living in both states.

Heck it took a while for those Italians (and the Irish etc) to be accepted by the majority of the people in those areas. For a while they would live in their own ghettos in the major cities hence why today you will see parts of older northern cities with an Italian part of town, a Polish section, etc because that is where they would end up back in the day.

Not just up north.. In metro New Orleans there is the Irish Channel [in Mid-City, between Uptown and Downtown] the French Quarter [the old city, which is really not French, but Spanish], the German Coast [W. Bank of Mississippi upstream from the city] Plaquemine Parish [settled mostly by Slavic people], Fauberg Marigny [originally home to 'Free Men of Color', but now largely occupied by artists and musicians], New Orleans East [which sounds more like Brooklyn than it does either Jackson or Lafayette] among many other formerly ethnic or linguistic segregated enclaves.

RE: The 50 States Of America If They Were Actually People In A Bar
The state of New Jersey varies like no other state I know (especially when you consider the square miles of the state). I was just at a Demolition derby called Sussex County Fair in Augusta, NJ (northeast corner) last night. Saw at least 13 cars in the derby with Rebel flags on their cars. There was more camouflage, tattoos, cowboy boots, and infant babies than any event I've ever been during my 9 years living in the South.

Go 30 miles west and you'll be in Urbanville USA. You'll believe you have rediscovered Ellis Island. My wife works in a school district with 58 schools in its city. Half the population doesn't speak English.

Go 40 miles southeast and you'll see one of 3 things.
1. Orange / Italian / Juicehead people of the MTV Jersey Shore
2. Some of the most beautiful well kept beaches on the Atlantic Ocean with 2 Million dollar ocean front homes.
3. Surf and shore communities with family oriented activities, boardwalks, good fishing and shellfish.

Go 50 miles direct south and you'll quite scenery with discover rich farm land that once gave the state the nickname the Garden State.

Go 5-10 miles north and you'll run into the Appalachian Trail.

Cross the state border rivers of the Hudson and you'll see NYC or Delaware and you'll see Philly.

This state has everything you could imaging only a few miles away. Unfortunately PROPERTY TAXES, TRAFFIC, IGNORANT CITIZENS, OLD HOMES, A HOLE DRIVERS and once again PROPERTY TAXES make it a crap state to live in.

Corpus Christi, TX has always been a city I've wanted to visit. Robert Earl Keen discussed it in a song or two. Saw REK during the winter in Montclair, NJ. Lets just say only 50-70 people showed up in a venue that holds 2,000. People in Jersey don't know about Texas music!

I think people just don't know about him. We only have one country station and all they play is the pop country crap.

Now if Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel, Bon Jovi play here, tickets are $1,000 and still sold out. Springsteen and Bon Jovi are labeled god's here.

On a positive side, while I was up in Atlanta, a college female friend took me to a Bon Jovi cover band (I'll admit I know all the words to the songs since I grew up in the late 80's). It was one of the easiest nights of my life.
