Pretty sure you need a gold membership. Maybe you can get it with a lesser one, but the gold definitely does. Just need to download the app.

Just watched the end of it for the last 20m. Buffalo's coach -- 6 time National Coach of the year. Like 109-6! In DIII. :) But still!

You do not need a gold membership for the espn app. Pretty much the only thing you need gold for now is actual gaming. Almost all of the video apps are available to Xbox Live Silver (free) members.
