I could be wrong but I am thinking we are gonna kick ETSU butt. We have built a team that has to compete this year with transfers and Juco. Not sure ETSU has done the same. Their QB looks impressive but I think he will be in shock come September 3rd.

Georgia State has and continues to build their powerhouse, amazingly successful program with "transfers and Juco."

Yep - that's MONEY they are dropping from the ceiling of the Georgia Dome as a promotional attempt to get people to come to their games...didn't work. I believe this was in 2013 and their "attendance" DROPPED almost 32% in 2014. Extensive acquisition of Rent-a-players is not the right way to build a start-up program. I don't know to what extent they have or what extent they intend to, but if KSU follows the GSU start-up 'model,' I don't believe they will have different results over the medium and long-term. They may win a game or 2 more in the 1st year or 2, but, if that is their current action and go-forward plan, IMHO, it will catch up to them quickly. Sounds like the Bucs are doing it the right & sustainable way.

How many transfers/JUCO's has Mercer brought in?

0 JUCO and here is a link to their roster. You can count up the transfers yourself if you would like.Mercer Football 2015 Roster

BTW - Just counted 16 transfers and 6 JUCO's on KSU's 102 man roster. A couple of those transfers came from non-football playing schools, so I would say those don't 'count.' Considering they have brought in 2 classes of recruits...averaging, let's say 7, Xfers and 3 JUCO's per class for a start-up program is really not 'loading up,' particularly when also considering a number of those transfers were from lower level schools and were kids originally from the metro ATL area. So, if they bring in no more than 4 or 5 Xfer's/yr and 'go easy' on the JUCO's..1 or 2 max/year, then they will not, in any way, be destroying their program from the inside out as I believe GaSt has done.

He was bad at choosing jobs. He chose GT which was rebuilding and he actually rebuilt them. Then he goes to Bama and wins. Then he goes to Kentucky where nobody ever has won since 1955 and gets the xpecyed result and then he comes to GSU and starts a program. He I suppose could have picked and chosen jobs better to assure a winning record. But if you have ever met Coach Curry you realize he isnt that type of guy.

REALLY? Wow - that's hard to believe. The ATL Media has been giving them as much press as they have UGa & GT. I can't ride to/from work without hearing about how amazing everything about Kennesaw & Owls Football is...you know they have a stadium, a locker room, dorms, and a school with actual majors...and stuff like that. Articles in the paper every day almost.

If they can't sell out 8,300 in Metro ATL for their inaugural game with the kind of media barrage they've had the past 3 or 4 weeks and, what, like 25,000 students, they have a problem.

Wait - I just checked...they haven't even put single game tix on sale yet. They go on sale 8/19. C'mon man...Season Tix for 2 are a minimum investment of $100+$99+$99 = $298. I know they were SAYING they expected to sell out the stadium to Season Ticket Holders only, but they probably REALLY don't want to do that. Could end up with an almost empty stadium for some games if you do that...if they lose the 1st few and are playing a game against a team their fans haven't heard of and there's a big UGa game on TV, Season Ticket holders will just eat their cost, they won't make a real effort to get the tix to someone else who will use them, and it will not look good. Better to go with dynamic pricing and ensure that a few thousand show rather than play in front of a lot of plastic yellow 'fans.' I'd hold off on critiquing their ticket sales until they release the single game tix and also see how many folks show up for. let's say, Home Game #5 against Monmouth.

I don't think we are going to have any issue with attendance. There are less than 400 season tickets available and they may not even offer single game tickets to the public.

Does anyone know if the ETSU KSU game will be available online?

Sounds like you and Panama need to compare and/or cite your sources.

Makes good financial sense to sell 'em all as Season Tix - get those $$$'s in advance and get more than they could selling as single-game, but it may end up 'biting' them perception-wise if they don't win early & often, create an amazing game-day fan experience from Game 1 on, and continue that 'formula' throughout the season. People have to be COMPELLED to attend events with regularity these days. Those that have already dropped $300++++ on KSU football probably have enough discretionary income to 'blow off $60' if the weather is not great or the opponent is not exciting or if UGa is playing LSU on TV. Do you know if they 'held back' ANY tickets for current undergraduate students? If so, do you know how many?

Good points. I know they have held tickets for undergraduate students. In addition, I also know that the students must be in their seats 10 minutes prior to game time or they will allow students in the reserve line to take their place. That being said, I do not know how many tickets they have saved for the student section. My guess is a 1-2k

The ETSU National Alumni Association sent out an email that says the following:

Join us as we celebrate the return of football to ETSU. The Bucs will face Kennesaw State on Thursday, September 3, 2015. Kickoff will be at 7:30 p.m. If you can't make it to the game, the SoCon Digital Network will be "live streaming" the game. Gather your friends and host an ETSU Football viewing party! All you need is a "smart" TV* or a restaurant/bar with "live streaming" capabilities. Contact the ETSU National Alumni Association for more information, assistance and to publicize your party.

It says to contact them for more information, so perhaps access will be restricted and/or require a special code.

Our first class consisted of 29 kids from the high school ranks. Second class brought in all JUCO'S and transfer kids on scholarship. I have no issue with it.. gives class separation and adds age to the program. Just hope we go away from that trend this year.

I didn't want to count from your roster because I don't care about walk on transfers.. just curious if you guys had any on scholarship.

Not sure what you mean by "walk-on transfers" that you don't care about, but I was looking at the Mercer roster today and thinking about their 'transfer history'...

Mercer has recruited 4 classes. On their current roster, they have 12 FBS Transfers (I believe 5 of those have been named All SoCon), 2 FCS Transfers, 1 D2 Transfer (All SoCon Player), 2 NAIA Transfers, 0 JUCO Transfers. So, a total on the current roster of 17 Transfers, of which I believe at least 12 will be starters or substantial contributors in 2015.

Over the 4 years, I believe they have had 5 additional FBS Transfers (4 who are no longer playing football & 1 who left, is on the current roster @ UGa and played in 8 games for the Bulldogs last year); and 3 additional FCS Transfers who have all graduated, and are no longer playing football (2 are now in Mercer's Law School, 1 of those was an All-SoCon Player).

So...about 25 Transfers over 4 classes of recruits. About 6/yr. 70% from FBS, 100% Quality young men and very good (or better) football players, 0% JUCO - Just about right, IMHO.

Hilarious. Where did you get that we have built with JUCOS and transfers? We had a handful of transfers in 2010 and this year we enrolled a bunch of UAB players, greyshirts and JUCOs mid year. Still the vast majority, better than 90% in six years have been HS recruits. It doesnt matter where you get kids from as long as you BALANCE classes. And as for money drop pics, call me when Mercer has a crowd of 30k plus...ever. All the best to KSU in season one.Same to ETSU.

Perhaps when Ga State moves over to Turner Field, outdoors, and with less seats, game day will be better. Of course, like any team, if you ain't winning attendance goes south.

Panama, I only know what is being communicated by our athletic department over social media and ksuowls.com.

They are now stating that only 200 season tickets remain available. That being said, I suppose it is possible that they have a lot of single game tickets available.

Single game tickets go on sale tomorrow. They will cost 25-35 dollars per seat. I simply can't imagine tickets being that expensive if they have thousands of seats available.

Do you know something that may not be disclosed publicly? I appreciate the insight.

I mean players that walked on, but played at another school previously. If I just counted your roster I wouldn't know if they were on scholarship...that's all.

Best of luck this year. Have any predictions?

Same prediction as the past 2 years. I predict the Bears will play very, very hard and that they will take the field expecting to win every game they play. As a fan, as long as they do that, I'm proud of 'em. As a former Player and Coach, I know IF they do that, they'll win their share of games. So far, they have only let me down once.

RE: Kennesaw State Opens as Favorite
Panama, KSU's first home game is now sold out and will be in TV. Looking forward seeing whether or not we can sustain attendance. I purchased tickets for the October 10th game. The weather should be perfect!
