I can't see any reason why if they were invited, they would not want all sports, especially giving their location. People don't want to take long trips to say, Boise Idaho, for example, for non-revenue sports. No one complains about taking trips to Orlando to play baseball or volleyball.

Florida's great to go to in the winter, but squeezing a trip to Orlando in the middle of a midwestern schedule is hard. Plus while UCF has the facilities, they haven't had as much on-court success. Travel isn't an issue in football because you're not playing twice in a week.

When you account for point to point transportation, you can get to UCF from any Big 12 school in a shorter time than you can to West Virginia, which requires flying into another city. For that matter you can likely get to UCF's campus faster than you can to Iowa State's from any of the Texas schools. If you are flying commercial (like most non-revenue sports) the only Big 12 city easier to get to is Dallas.

VCU would be a solid travel partner for hoops if we needed a nonfb. One vote that wouldn't be able to dictate policy but would be a good "ringer" for hoops.

I don't think they'd add partial members but the right combo could ease travel issues.

Wichita St might be in that conversation as well.

Or Creighton to get them back into Nebraska.

I think the Big east is paid too well and too homogenous (all religious, urban, hoops schools) to leave. They already get similar money to ND's non-fb ACC payout. So Creighton is likely out as is Butler, Gtown, and Villanova.

A10 and Mo Valley would be the likely targets IMO if this ever got traction.

Schools like Cinci have basketball programs and other sports to consider but BYU and Boise could easily join in FB only and leave other sports in the WCC like BYU does. Big Sky might also be an option for other sports at Boise. I don't think the Big 12 would do that but it's at least a possibility.

I see no reason to consider any of the other options as football only unless you consider possibly ECU. But they have no accomplishments that compare to BYU and Boise and don't have the national following to drive TV ratings.
If Boise State jumped I could see them rejoining the WAC as they would have a decent travel partner in Seattle. Given that the Mountain West would probably add Sacramento State or Portland State before it adds Idaho or New Mexico State, and the Big Sky would have no viable candidates from Division II, the Big Sky might want Boise State to take Idaho with them to get down to ten members (twelve in FCS football).

Seattle/Idaho
Boise State/Utah Valley
Bakersfield/Grand Canyon
New Mexico State/UTRGV
Chicago State/Kansas City

If my count is correct there are only 3 FBS teams that are not all sports members of their FBS conference. Norte Dame as a semi-indepentant fooball member of the ACC and Idaho & NMSU as football only of the Sun Belt.
Navy and Hawaii so four out of ten conferences.
Non football members are even more rare only the SBC has them.

BYU would be able to leave the rest of their sports in the WCC while giving the Big 12 a power-conference-level football team. Could also add UCF/Cincy/etc. as a football-only from the east to get to 12 members. The eastern member could move their olympic sports to the Big East or A-10. I am not advocating for this to happen, just discussing if the Big 12 would even consider accepting a 10/12 arrangement. Thoughts?

why take UC football only? You get the benefit of a good men's hoops program if you take all of it. UC held their own in the Big East (once Cronin got the program back on its feet)...I think we would be fine in the B12. A good basketball conference but not as tough top to bottom as the old Big East by any stretch.

Taking Cincinnati as FB only is stupid if you have WV as an all sports addition.
