Big 12 rumor

How does one get "close" to talking but not talk?

Down here in Louisiana, people say "I am fixing to go to the store.", meaning "I am getting ready to go" or "I am thinking about it."

Sometimes, they don't end up at the store because something else comes up. Is that what this article means, they are "fixing" to begin to talk?

Big 12 rumor

It only took a couple of seconds to figure out the tweet that started that rumor yesterday was garbage.

1) Some random guy posted a blurred picture using the Big 12 logo with a letter that looked like it was a letter from the Big 12.

2) He said that letter was sitting on the desk of the President's office at Boise State.

3) So I went to search in Twitter to see if there was noise over this letter and there was nothing. Zelch, nada, nothing, none, zero.

4) Then I questioned how some random guy would get his hands on a picture of a confidential document that would get a person fired from their job if they leaked it out if the wasn't an authorized leak.

5) Then I did a quick second Google search on the radio guy from Florida and found shaddy stuff.

Don't put any trust into that rumor. If the rumor turned out to be true, then it is what it is, but don't put any money on it being true.

There better options for the Big12 in the east.
Two things:
1. The MW commissioner stated he doesn't consider the Big 12 expansion a threat to the MW.
2. He was on a conference call with the Big 12 commissioner and nothing was said (in regards to the tweet).

Nothing really shocks me anymore when it comes to realignment. But the chances of BSU getting a Big 12 invitation are minuscule. The only way I could see it happening would be as a football-only member with BYU also coming aboard as a football-only, and both schools accepting partial shares of conference distributions.

I take it to mean it's the chatter between certain administrators but nothing of the formal nature between all involved parties.

If BYU is a legitimate expansion candidate for the XII, then it's not absolutely impossible that Boise St. end up getting pulled in.

From what I've read in the past, it seems to me that Boise St.'s president has been cultivating a partnership with BYU, in the hopes that BYU would advocate for pulling Boise along in the case where BYU gets the call up.


Doesn't mean it would happen, but just a thought.

It hasn't got that far ... they are fixing to take a notion to talk.

Don't ask me how such a straightforward state of affairs would get muddied in a tweet.

Best I can tell, this Scott McKinney guy who tweeted the information just got out of prison after serving 5 years for monetary fraud. He apparently sold more than 100% of the shares in his radio show. He also got 50 years of probation (50 years???). The article also indicates that there was another similar scheme the guy might have legal problems with. I wouldn't put much weight on anything the guy says as he is basically a convicted liar.

Sadly, our advice comes too late for Scott McKinney, former host of SOUTHERN SPORTS TONIGHT, a sports radio show in Memphis. You may recall that he was busted for selling more than 100% of the shares to his show, then using the extra cash on himself, which apparently you can’t do. (Legally, anyway.) Well, it’s time for the sentencing, and the judge was extraordinarily unimpressed with McKinney’s shenanigans, giving him the maximum allowable sentence for the charges he copped to in the plea deal. Grease your ass, McKinney, because according to THE CLARION-LEDGER, it’s about to get rough:


Booneville native Scott McKinney was sentenced to five years in a Florida state prison Tuesday for defrauding investors in his Southern Sports Tonight radio program.

McKinney also will serve 50 years on probation and pay restitution of $188,508.

Cincy is almost certainly one of the two that will be added if the teams come out of the G5. No way Big 12 takes BYU and Boise.

My money is betting that the Big 12 Implodes rather then expands.

a big 12 will survive after losing 4-5 teams and it will rebuild from the mwc and aac. it's tv deal will collapse in value and, while still considered a p5 league for the playoffs, it will rately get a team in. then the next negotiated playoff contract will drop them to g5 status

I agree with your assessment but if the Big 12 loses 5 of 10 teams all remaining members would stay and add the best from MWC and AAC plus BYU to get to 12

MWC losing two most likely replaces CSU with Houston and Boise with Tulsa. The rest of the AAC will have to find a home in CUSA, SBC, MAC or go Indy.

If BYU would not join the Big 12 with OU and Texas, why would they join this?
