Curious what y'all think about this. From what he says, the guides he hired got all the proper permits and everything was totally above board (for Africa). He apparently had no idea that he'd be hunting this specific lion. I don't advocate for killing such amazing creatures (go shoot an antelope or something like that), but it doesn't sound like he broke any laws. Americans are amazingly high and mighty for people who buy iPhones in droves - knowing what goes on at Foxconn. Not to mention all the porn that's watched, not knowing where those girls are coming from.

That's not to say this guy is a great person, but rather internet commenters can be quick to condemn without looking in the mirror

Sounds like he baited the lion with a dead animal attached to a vehicle to lure it outside the park. That is where I have the problem.

I have no problem with hunting at all, seeing as I'm going to start in the fall. But if you are going to bait an animal to lure it to where it is legal to kill it, that is where I have a problem with it. The lion was not a pest, not causing a problem with over population of the area, and the meat was not eaten. It was simply a trophy with (as far as I know) none of the money being used for conservation efforts (why I have no problem usually with that hot Texas blonde hunting the animals she does.

So it was illegal to kill it in the park?

From what I've read yes, which is why it had to be drawn outside the park.

They could always disarm him, throw him into the middle of the park, and let the lions hunt him for a while. If he makes it out alive, he gets off scot free.

Most of the commentary I'm seeing are from non-hunters (meaning the media).. That being said, I was always taught if you hunt or kill any animal you should eat it or give it to someone for nourishment.

Here's where I draw a line.. I don't believe in trophy hunting.. and from what I understand, you can't call what he did hunting. To me hunting means you've scouted the area and you're trying your luck. You're not in a fenced in area or drugging an animal or an animal is lead to you on a leash.

To me hunting means you're out to kill say a deer. You go to an area you suspect have deer. You scout the area. Try to figure out the patterns. And you pick a day and time and you go to the woods, set up, and hunt. For hours you sit and wait. Sometimes it may not take long some times you might have to spend hours and a few days.

I agree with Ted Cruz......

I'd like to see the same disdain for the women that kill their unborn children.

Agree with him, although such an unnecessary and stupid thing to say for your political career

He isn't the first such politician, and won't be the last either.

What a coward. He lures the animal out of the park to kill it; now that he is the hunted, he hides.

Don't you wish this guy could actually go to something like this since he likes to go big game hunting:
