IMO, it is irrelevant to the B12 situation. I'm sure it will pass the NCAA. The real issue is: Will the P5 then consequently vote to allow the B12 specifically to have a CCG with 10 teams? I think not.

I don't see the other conferences blocking the Big XII from having a CCG with 10 teams. At that point why would they care?

I think the bigger issue is the P5 all having the same number of conference games.

I agree the number of games is the bigger issue. However, Larry Scott (P12 commish) has publicly said he thinks all conferences should play a CCG AND have at least 12 teams.

I think that is partly b/c 10 teams make more money per school, with standard CFP distributions by conference, which gives the B12 an unfair financial advantage.

Once the legislation passes, it will be interesting to see how much of an issue the other P5s will make about keeping the rule at 12 teams. Scott obviously feels that way. Other commissioners haven't come out publicly, AFAIK.

I don't post much here any more. I have my own private board. And I've had a few unpleasant experiences trying to discuss this subject here, too.

Anyway, nothing much is going on right now, AFAIK. The B12 has been talking to us at least 18 months, on and off. They just can't come to a consensus about expanding, as is obvious in the media these days.

My impression is it has much more to do with the idea of expansion itself, than it does to do with the specific teams.

From what I've heard privately, and read publicly, I think IF the B12 ever expands in the near term, Cincy is the clear favorite, and we likely hold an advantage for the #2 spot.

But it doesn't matter unless the B12 can muster 8 votes for expansion.

BTW, I differ with Pony94's info that Texas doesn't want us. Texas is mainly against expansion, regardless of the school. That hurdle has to be cleared first, before it comes to any specific school being added.

I actually heard of a prominent Memphis fan who talked directly to the UT president, who told him we had their vote IF the B12 did expand.

That differs from what Pony94 heard. Who knows? Maybe the prez was just being polite. It's irrelevant until they vote to approve expansion, anyway.

Also, I think several teams leaving the B12 is more likely at this point than than B12 expansion, as is. Not sure why OU is so pro-expansion publicly. Maybe they know it won't pass, and they see it as political cover in case they decide to leave. They could go to the SEC, or to the B1G, for sure. UT could go wherever, if they drop the LHN. But they won't do that, so they likely prefer to sit tight and oppose expansion.

Kansas could potentially go to the B1G. OSU might tag along with OU to the SEC, but doubtful to the B1G.

If OU bolts, UT might also do something. Most of the rest of the B12 are sitting ducks, waiting on OU and UT to make a move.

That is a scenario I do not like... It would mean we likely find our way into the Big 12. However, while it would be a better conference than the current AAC I am not sure it would remain a "power" conference...
