That guy is a prick, he is a "SEC" ESPN guy.....Any other conference really doesn't matter in his eyes...Remember him predicting the UK football game against us a couple of years ago and he had UK winning by like 40, he is an SEC tool....

A pretty spot on assessment to me. This league has a lot of work to do to improve it's standing in men's basketball. But nothing will change until RPI becomes a serious number to more member schools.

I agree. Which is why UTEP 's schedule this year is a head scratcher. I thought they would go out and schedule some good teams. They elected however to go in a different direction.

Most of the schools in CUSA don't take basketball seriously, so why should ESPN, or anybody else, take the conference seriously?

I don't think there's actually anything wrong in his assessment content wise, but he does frame it in an unnecessarily negative way.

The butt hurt by ODU is absolutely amazing.

Your first year in CUSA you were garbage. Last year, the reason ODU didn't get into the NCAA was ODU, not CUSA.

I thought WKU fans were bad in the SBC, but some of these ODU cats are amazing.

RE: ESPN: Early look - sizing up CUSA hoops...
I don't hear any ODU fans saying we're all that. We were good last season, but that wasn't our best team ever. The fact remains that several CUSA teams need to take hoops more seriously, and schedule smarter and teams with better RPIs. A few of those teams (ECU cough, cough) left for the AAC. ODU drug the RPI down a few years ago, but it was because we weren't good not because we scheduled bad. Some CUSA teams schedule D2 teams etc as regular season games, thus getting bad RPIs. Then whether a conference mate wins or loses against them they take a hit. As a conference we can't afford to be hurting ourselves. CUSA should ban non-exhibition D2 games and provide monetary incentives for top 150 scheduling and top 150 RPI etc. Thats not specific to ODU, that would help everyone.

So what's it mean about ODU when they finish 3rd in a sucky league? Sounds like you were lucky to get into the NIT.

You speak as if the league doesn't suck. If for some wild reason you think this is a good basketball league then please... the floor is yours

ODU lost a few conference games on the road that they shouldn't have, but they were 11-1 ooc going 6-1 vs. top 100 rpi teams. The Monarchs were hardly lucky to make the NIT as they were the last team out of the NCAA's; the reason they were the #1 NIT seed.

I see you're from "the 'boro." Is that Statesboro? If so, I can understand why you would have many questions about basketball.

Pardon us for discussing basketball, in a thread about ... basketball.

How 'bout you tell us all again about that super-important La. Tech "tier 1" status. Yup, that's a much, much more fascinating subject for the offseason.

Your dumb***'edness is also amazing. We aren't saying we were world champs, what we are complaining is we have to step up as a conference and play good basketball. Is that difficult enough to comprehend.

The highlights of last season were;

UAB upsetting a #3 then getting hammered in the next round
ODU getting ranked 25 for one week to then never see the light of the polls again

That's all we have, and this was a good year.

Our two-year running regular season champ wasn't even in the conversation for the tournament at 24-7. Our second placed team with an NBA prospect lost in the first round of the NIT. Our third placed team wouldn't have even sniffed the NIT were it not for some home court OOC wins and our sole tournament rep got there because they hosted the conference tournament.

So tell me why ESPN should be singing the praises of this conference.
