Browsing Reddit - found this link of NIU vs Alabama
I was just browsing Reddit tonight and someone posted this link of the NIU vs Alabama game.

Even though I knew the results, I found myself getting nervous during the 20 minute recap.

Watching the recap - really shows how much of a stud Turner, Haldi and Sheldon were in this game.

I think I could rewatch this video 100 times tonight

Thanks. I listen to the game on radio years ago and it seem like yesterday with the video. I never knew there was a video. I surprised NIU did not get a roughing a passer call on Alabama fourth down. (These refs never talked to the Wis. refs.) I wonder when was the last time Joe Novak was escorted off the field with 3 state troopers?

Remind folks that NIU lifetime is 1-0 against Alabama. Best record of any team playing Alabama.

That was a blast to watch....the special teams were unreal in that game. The field position for Alabama was terrible....Crazy that a blocked extra point returned for 2, a 3 point play, was the difference. Man did Turner get some manly yards in that game. And Dan Sheldon....whoo!

Loved Haldi's simple victory gesture.

I do a lot of work in Alabama and have to travel there about every other month. Some of my key co-workers are Alabama alumni. They hate it when I bring up that NIU is 1-0 against "mighty Alabama" and that we beat them in their house!

The best part is not only the fact NIU is undefeated all time against Alabama, but the Tide actually bought out the second game after they lost.

The difference between watching Turner run and then little Fleck and Sheldon out there catching passes was almost comical. Turner, grown ass man, and then Sheldon and Fleck looked like little kids running around out there.

Man, I loved watching RTB to play.

Thanks for posting.

-Forgot we returned a blocked extra point for 2 points! (Which if that doesn't happen gives them +1 & us -2 which gets you 17-17...Yikes!)

-Most special team plays I've ever seen in highlight reel. Our punter was huge in that game. And Azar from 51!

-I thought the size of our OL & DL looked large.

And of course...thxjoenovak!

I'm pretty harsh on the Flecker....but that toe drag versus Maryland....he was a tough and great player.

I went to the bathroom at halftime, and overheard a Bama fan telling another, "man, we can't stop that Turner guy"

NIU would have won by a bigger margin if there were replay reviews. The Bama receiver did not maintain possesion on their first TD. Same for their 4th and 2 conversion in the 4Q. Gallagher was MVP of that game.

I was told that President Peters while walking out of the locker room with coach novak, said to coach "I don't think they realize what they just did"

I never thought we could win a game in an SEC venue without having at least a 10 point lead with less then 2 minutes to go. Would expect the SEC refs to start making things right. The impressive thing about that game is the win was not a fluke. Bama had a pretty good DL and in the 4th Our OL and Turner had tdose guys standing with their hands in their knees. Turner punished them

God I remember being in the frat house checking online cause we couldn't get a stream of the game...turner was just a man beast in this game...just awesome, makes my pants tingle....reminds me of how I felt when NIU genuinely outplayed Iowa and Purdue 2 seasons ago...

although bama was not a great team, playing in Tuscalosa is a tall order with all the national championship flags Bear Bryant's shadow looming all over. What a memory

In 2003 it was tough to see the Huskies on TV anywhere, so NIU athletics opened up the Convo and showed the game on the scoreboard. It was fantastic to watch the game with a few hundred other fans and see the Huskies actually defeat Alabama. Let's do it again vs. Ohio State.

Great win for NIU vs Bama.

I believe that weekend UT beat PITT (#9 nationally) and Marshall also beat KSU. Did BGSU also get a win over a BCS team that weekend?

I wonder how many Bama fans are also Falcon fans who got to cheer for Turner when he later played for Atlanta.
