I was hoping we got this kid out of high school. He was underrated by all the recruiting services but our coaching staff saw him and offered; UTK didn't even notice him in their own back yard.

I really like this kid and I believe he would be a welcome addition.
So glad you found some info to share. I thought I saw something on the web, but I could find a link. Agreed, I thought we would sign him out of HS. He was on the smaller side, but he had a high motor.

I don't see how it's bulling. He hasn't been on campus long enough. He was asked to take a blue shirt and he accepted but then changed his mind. That's the only thing I can think off. Plus do you want him if the UT players bullied him and he ran.I think the only offers he had were from us and UT. It seems like his only choice is to play here or go to a juco as a full qualifier and then hope he catches someone's attention and leaves after his freshman year.

I just read some of the posts on the volnation link above. Sounds like he got into a fight with WR Justin Croom over locker room protocol.

I am not concerned about the bullying because of this video but I know there is another side there somewhere: WOW
I thought he blue shirted (Fall walk-on is given a scholarship that will count towards the following class) which is slightly different than gray shirting (Spring semester enrollee). I gathered from him accepting these terms, makes him a consummate team player based on NDTiger's video.
This kid grew in Knoxville wanting to be Vol, similar to kids in Memphis wanting to be a Tiger basketball player. I remember him stating if they offered him a scholly he would end his recruiting, a week later he's a Vol. Memphis was the first to offer but this is the reason why no one else recruited him.
South-Doyle football coach Clark Duncan said several schools have inquired about Bruce, including Arkansas State, Middle Tennessee State, Memphis, Charleston Southern, and Northeast Oklahoma A&M, a junior college.

There is more to the story than has been leaked. I am pretty sure that CJF will probably pass. Bruce will probably end up at a Juco. After Juco, who knows? Hope he makes the best of a 2nd chance.

Apparently we inquired.
Do you know the story or just assume there is more?
Ok, thank me for this. I just went through 34 pages of vol talk with some of most ludicrous message board crap that makes this board look intelligent. They through out the Spanish Ametivan War, homophobia, bullying, vol tradition, disrespect, gangsta attitude, mom and coaches failing a kid and wimpy behavior.
Best I can tell is it was a locker room confrontation that may have been caused by Bruce acting a little street by stepping or dancing on the big old Orange T in the center of the room. Senior WR may have called him out followed by some posturing but Bruce which drew a right cross to the face.
Bruce may have felt embraced and unloved, stopped going to class and got a suspension. He was a walkon with no power and it was decided or told it was best to move on.
Not sure if this is the truth and if so if it says any more than some 18-21 year old testosterone driven let things get out of hand.
The kid deserves a chance either was. Maybe he comes out of this smarter.

The kids high school coach said memphis called and was interested.

I'll be the first to say "thank you". I just couldn't stand reading all that dribble.
There's more to this story than has been reported (duh). I trust JF to do his homework on this one...we are now in a position that we don't need to take on a talented problem.

Yeah, you read it right but in this case he received a scholarship the day he walked on that will count towards the following year's class. This practice is called blue shirting (enrolling in the Fall), it's similar to gray shirting (enrolling in the Spring) but is rarely used.
