Better Chance: GaSt, Idaho, Troy

Some Chance: @UNM, @ULM, @TxSt

Decided Underdogs: UTEP, @GaSo, @ULL, StAte

Prohibitive Underdogs: @Florida, @OleMiss

Nothing's given.
I'm sure GaSt,Idaho, and Troy want to play NMSU just as much.
And all four of the consensus lower tier could surprise.

USA opponents:

12. Gardner-Webb - Average FCS team at home
11. Idaho - Long trip and Mobile humidity (Nov.)
10. Georgia State - Panthers always play the Jags tough.
9. App State - Transfers beginning to step up.
8. Troy - Trojans still a work in progress.
7. Texas State - On the road in San Marvelous will be a fight.
6. Arkansas State - Even a home game against the Red Wolves will prove to be tough.
5. Louisiana - A true Jaguar rival and always a tough opponent.
4. Georgia State - On the road against the team with a ditch running through the campus.
3. San Diego State - Playing the Aztecs in Qualcomm will be another tough test.
2. NC State
- The Jaguars toughest home game since Mississippi State.
1. Nebraska - Playing the Cornhuskers at their place will be a monumental task for anyone.

Who is their new OC?

They got the OC from West Virginia... I forget his name... Great hire tho.

Edit: Shannon Dawson is his name

I played with Shannon at UL.

I can't get it in my head that Western Michigan is a good team... I don't know why, some kind of block or something... But anytime I see them on a schedule, I'm just like "eh, easy W". They could be on Georgia State's roster, and I'd say it.

It's a mental block I tell ya.

9. Georgia State -
8. @ Troy - Should be interesting, but unless Troy has greatly improved the D we should score enough
7. South Alabama - Thanksgiving weekend means a weak crowd and 2pm means even weaker.
6. Texas St. - Thursday night Halloween theme
5. @ULM - follows long trip to Moscow, Warhawks better at home
4. Western Michigan -- at home will be some advantage, expect WMU to test the pass defense following a tough game in Morgantown
3. App State - will be difficult to win in Boone. Maybe they'll tear down the goalposts yet again.
2. West Virginia - Foot race if our offense is effective, long night if not. Doubt we stop them much
1. Georgia - sandwiched between Auburn and Ga Tech for the Dawgs might be the only bright side for us

RE: Rank the teams on this year's schedule from easiest to toughest to beat
12.Howard
11.Idaho, long trip, but too much talent
10.UL Monroe
9. South Alabama- caught us at the low point of the season last year, we have them last game of season, bowl should be on the line, no problems.
8. Georgia State- little worried about this game, play them right before the toughest part of schedule, might overlook them
7. ODU- got a week to prepare, new qb, same horrible defense, one of the worst in the country last year, and that's saying something considering they were playing a CUSA schedule last year
6. Troy- got a feeling they will be better then most expect
5. Wyoming-got them in Boone, but they have a great coach who will have them prepared
4. ULL. embarrassed them last year at their place, will have this game circled on their calander
3. Ark St. see above
2. Georgia Southern, always a war, two programs that hate each other, but respect each other, might be the game of the year in the SBC, hopefully, neither teams stumbles too much before that game.
1. Clemson- yikes!! Only good thing is we catch them early, maybe we can make a game of it, for 2 maybe 3 quaters

RE: Rank the teams on this year's schedule from easiest to toughest to beat
12. Howard- FCS MEAC team, there shouldn't be any issues there.
11. Idaho- I know the offense is good, and they're improving, but I don't se any potential for a loss here.
10. Troy- We get them at home after beating them by 39 last year. I think that new coach will have them back in title contention soon, but not next year.
9. USA- Lost a ton of players, including the Cam/Roethlisberger clone from last year, and our guys will definitely be looking for revenge after our worst performance of the year against them last year.
8. GSU- At the dome, and we still haven't really played them. We got them last year in the snow where they couldn't pass effectively. We should be able to outscore them, but we'll have trouble stopping them.
7. ODU- They have to replace an incredible QB, and it's on the road, but I think we'll be slight favorites.
6. ULM- Great defense again I'm assuming, and we had a tight game at home last year.
5. Wyoming- Craig Bohl is an incredible coach, and I think we'll see a huge turnaround for them this year. We'll be at home though, so I think we get the win.
4. Louisiana- They'll be looking for revenge, but having them in late November in the cold should work out well.
3. stAte- Thursday night, but I think they may be the most talented team in the conference. Apparently they had a lot of people out last year as well.
2. GS- Always a hard fought battle. Conference champs come to our place with a huge game.
1. Clemson- Obvious.

RE: Rank the teams on this year's schedule from easiest to toughest to beat
12. Idaho... Just too many issues the past couple seasons, and this off season was no different for them. They will struggle to win a game.

11. Ga State...Still a young program trying to find its way in the FBS world. They could surprise a team or two but thats about it.

10. Charleston Southern...This game scares the CRAP out of me, This is a good FCS program who was ranked in the top 25 in FCS last year...Troy lost to Abilene Christian last year who finished middle of the pack in their FCS conference and lost to Georgia State... Its our first home game and its band day so the home team crowd should be good and we should be fired up for that.

9. NMSU...I would have put them BEHIND Charleston Southern if NMSU was at home. But we do play AT NMSU. So I give NMSU a slight nod at #9 on our schedule.

8. USA...They lost most of what they had last year including their QB (who wasnt all that anyway) but they were only 6-7 last year, Will the UAB recruits help? Only time will tell but I think USA takes a step back this season.

7. ULM...I probably jinks us by putting ULM even this low...We have not beaten ULM in several years and last time we beat ULM AT ULM was in 2001....LUCKLY for us we play them at home, ULM was 4-8 last year and I dont see them improving much if at all from that this year.

6. Cajuns...Only reason I put them this low is because historically the Cajuns drop off greatly in the last few games of their season, especially when they clinch a bowl...LUCKY for us we are their LAST home game of the year...Thats the only reason they are this low because coach Hud has owned Troy from day 1. But if Troy is looking for win #6 or more it could be interesting.

5. GA Southern...Gotta put someone here, and the reigning champs are Troys final home game of the season and if a bowl bid is on the line Troy may play fired up for Browns final home game of the season.

4. App State...Gonna be TOUGH playing AT App State HALLOWEEN weekend with a very likely LARGE crowd. App State is my pick to win the Conference this season.

3. Mississippi State... playing At a SEC school is tough no matter which SEC school it is.

2. NCSU... A possible Heisman QB and a team that is projected to finish near the top of the ACC and in the top 25 will be SUPER tough for Troys first game EVER under a new HC in over 24 years. If Troy keeps this game interesting in the 4th quarter I would be Very happy and shocked.

1. Wisconsin...B1G power nearly every year. and its At Wisconsin of course. its also our 3rd game of the season. Wisconsin will VERY likely finish top 25 and possibly top 10.

RE: Rank the teams on this year's schedule from easiest to toughest to beat
12. Citadel - They come in to the new Paulson and quickly realize this isn't the FCS team that they remember.
11. NMSU - Homecoming
10. GaSt
9. @Idaho - playing a game on the other side of the country is always hard no matter who it is.
8. USA
7. @Troy
6. TXST - They want revenge from the pick six but I don't think Paulson stadium will be an easy place to get it especially on a Thursday night on ESPNU.
5. @ULM - Away game in a difficult stadium right after a lengthy trip to Idaho against a team that wants revenge after having to wade through our fans rushing the field when they lost.
4. Western Michigan - Home opener and probably the hardest home game all season. If we beat West Virginia expect a packed house and possible record breaking attendance for this one.
3. @crApp State - Never easy especially in Boone.
2. UGA - Surprisingly not putting them first. Our game is nestled right between their game at Auburn and at GT. Hopefully they'll still be beat up from the Tiger Eagles and be looking ahead at the Georgia Tech revenge game.
1. West Virginia - DC started preparing for our offense in June. Going up against one of the best defenses in the Big12. Their fans seem pretty confident about their team expecting to run up the score and embarrass us. Hopefully not the case.

Not arguing with your opinion, cause you've got the right to yours.

Just a few thoughts on this WV defense being so great.
All of this "best" stuff imop, is mostly being said by the WV coaching staff.
Isn't their DC in only his second season there?
Their big claim to supposedly being the "best" defense in the Big 12 is that they are returning so much experience. Ok, there are stats that support this line of thinking and experience is certainly a plus. But these guys were not that great last season. They were ranked Nationally 63rd against the run, 7th out of 10 in the Big 12 last year. So mostly, they've got a defense returning that was so-so last year. They ranked 71'st against the pass.

I purpose that their defense is no better than GT or NC State.

Last year National rank defense GT/NC State;
GT: Run = 62nd/ Pass = 87th
NC ST: Run = 65th/ Pass = 30th.

Also that defense at WV was helped out by a pretty good offense.
Of which, most of the teeth are missing from last season.
Their QB is gone, and their two most productive receivers. At least one of which was an "all world" receiver. Those two guys accounted for more than 50% of all passing yardage last season. Any chance that losing those guys might cut down on their offense production???? Think the defense might have to play a little more??? Their fans might want to worry about being able to score much, more than worrying about running the score up on somebody because the odds are definitely against them scoring like they did last year.

Of course, they may kill us. But I like our chances. I don't think their defense is going to be any better than some we faced last year, and we did pretty well against those two "big boys". We didn't "have the legs" late in the 4th quarter in those two games defensively. I'd think being up to a full FBS lineup will help that out. Consider that we surrendered the lead in both of those games with less than 2 minutes to go at NC State and less than 1 minute to go at GT. We were basically less than two minutes worth of fresh players from winning those games.

Well, that and two untimely turnovers. I don't expect to be on the wrong end of turnovers at WV. Those guys ranked dead last in turnover margin in the Big 12. 119th Nationally!

They are going to have to "Show me the Defense" before I buy into their greatness.

Two other key points:
They have a DB starter coming off of surgery.
Their Nose Guard SHOULD serve some playing time suspension after "accidentally" punching a cop in a bar fight. But right now indications are that he just had to do some extra clean up chores. So, I agree with FSU kicking their QB off the team after punching a girl in a bar and that was worse... but here you have a starter punching a cop and not even getting one down of playing time suspended? I'd love to see the pressure cut up on that, can we get ESPN to do a story on it? Great defense or not, I'd still rather their starting NG be watching from the stands!

Yea I thought about that slot. But really, them preparing for Auburn given our similarities, and getting a "practice" game against what they do isn't going to help us. Here is to them getting beat/banged up at Auburn 04-cheers . I know I'd hate to be in GT's slot, even though I think Tech is going to beat them. They are going to start off preparing for Auburn, and our offense has to be the perfect transition between Auburn and GT. That defense should be prepared for GT. Maybe they'll watch the UF game tape and think we still run the flex bone, or better yet - confuse us with Georgia State.. 03-rotfl
