B12 Expansion Committee Exists

So the b12 expansion committee officially exists. It's comprised of boren, gee, Ken Starr

Candidates: BYU, Boise State, UCF, Cincinnati, Colorado State, Houston and Memphis.

UCF and Cincy/BYU/Houston most likely, IMO

RE: B12 Expansion Committee Exists
As I said to you on Landthieves, of course it officially exists, I don't know if that is whom comprises it but you don't dissolve the conference without showing that you did everything you could to try and keep it alive first, even if those attempts are empty attempts because you actually want to dissolve the conference. You still have to keep up appearances.

So how many forums did you go and post this propaganda on? Hoping for the approval from your hero?

What propaganda? Bob Bowlsby officially acknowledge in a public interview that it exists and those are the schools they are looking at.

Those are the reporters list of candidates, not a quote from Gee. Still the likely list though.

If the source for your statement is the article you linked to, you may want to read it again. Bowlsby did not acknowledge an "expansion committee". He did say there was a "composition committee". All of the comments from Gee, a member of that group, suggested the status quo was more likely than expansion. And the only person who mentioned any specific "targets" for expansion was the journalist who wrote the article.

UC and UCF/Memphis would make the most sense of all those. I think UCF is ahead of Memphis right now for everything but travel. Though being in FL should cancel that out.

Hopefully for NIU its not BYU or Boise St so we can have a opportunity to get into the AAC.

Its existed for a long time. Doesn't mean its meeting regularly. For a while it was Dodds (UTAD), Castiglione (OUAD), OSU's president and one other president (think it was KSU).

CSU's AD has said recently nobody has contacted him. They just want to be ready if someone does. He has no illusions that they are in the mix at the moment.

The chances of the Big 12 taking Boise AND BYU, 2 western teams is about as remote as the Big 12 taking NIU this go round. Both possibilities are very remote. Gee would certainly be a no vote to 2 western teams.

It will most likely be a western add and an eastern add.

Cincy, BYU or UConn make the most sense to me to get to 12. IF they add Memphis, UCF, USF, or ECU its a declaration of war aginast the SEC and ACC and those leagues will be very hostile to the big 12…that could be true for the pac 12 and col state. I could see a few more western school's like Houston, Boise or N Mexico in the pool. Of course, it feels more like the big 12 will close up shop and the prize school's will move to the other leagues. If the big 12 wants to stay together, there best move is a pac 20 or full merger with the ACC. I like the merger with the ACC and some rule changes. Add Uconn and cincy and break off into 3 nine team divisions with BYU as a football only to replace ND football.

NIU can have Houston's spot in the AAC when we move to the Big12. 04-cheers

Why not Cincinnati and Houston for all sports and BYU and UCF for football only? This would enable the Big 12 to expand the weekly Big 12 TV inventory by 2-3 games but without creating other olympic sports travel islands.

Where could UCF olympic sports land?

I'm beginning to agree with Gundy. Seems like Big 12 is slowly moving that way. Within 5 years they probably live up to their name. Having Gee and Boren on the committee is significant. That's 2 who would definitely like expansion with the right schools.

SEC already took A&M and Missouri. Why should Memphis, UCF and USF concern them?

ACC already has Miami and FSU. I don't think the SEC is losing much sleep over UCF or USF going to the Big 12. Big 10 would lose a little ground if Cincy were taken, and perhaps a little of the northeast market if UConn were taken. Pac-12 has the most to lose with the SLC and Phoenix markets if BYU gets taken. Other than that, there are not a lot moves the Big 12 can make that would concern other P5 conferences in the least.

On local radio today,

ESPN’s Brett McMurphy: “The good news for Memphis is … the Big 12 is gonna have to look to the American Athletic Conference for two teams.”

McMurphy: “The Big 12 is not expanding west.”
