Per CCU AD Matt Hogue: #Coastal has had preliminary discussions about joining Sun Belt Conference. #SunBelt approached #CCU first

If Benson is talking about it, and their AD is talking about it, I'd say it's likely inevitable. Myrtle Beach is likely nice in the early fall.

Yep I think this story may have legs. The main question I would have of the Belt leaders is what is the end goal--- 12/12 or 12/14?

All I know is UTA and UALR shouldn't be getting a piece of the football $$.

Well... it worked like that with Liberty, that's for sure.

We are 9/11 now. Really need to find a way to get NMSU oly in. Their basketball alone is worth it.

Benson was clearly working against the SBC schools and frustrated when it came to Liberty. This definitely doesn't feel the same way.

Just bringing in NMSU in olympic sports will get us to 12/12 but it does not lend itself to an easy east/west split in divisions for olympic sports. I would be shocked if NMSU is brought in for all sports unless it is part of a play to also bring in an all sports eastern member.

I'm ok with Coastal, they have nice facilities and decent potential. Would really like to see UTA get into the football conversation and, well, UALR may need to start looking for another conference.

And bring in NMSU for all sports and say goodbye to Idaho.

I also don't see any real chance of UTA or UALR being thrown out of the conference. They are here and will remain whether or not they have football or not.

Their football stadium is next to a trailer park. Its a pretty stadium inside, small, but pretty. And next to a trailer park.

Easy fix, buy the trailer park, then help move the families to new trailer parks. The turn trailer park into tailgating space.

Ultimately, Ladd sits in the middle of a neighborhood, and we make it work, the trailer park wouldn't stop anyone from enjoying a Saturday at the game.

You must have our stadium mixed up with another school. There's not a trailer park no where near where we play football.

smart thing to do is to bring in all sports except football, wait 3 or 4 years, give them time to build their program, expand their stadium, and then lets see where they stand, right now, they aren't ready for FBS football.

Who says they aren't ready? They have better attendance than EKU and better results. I do however think it will play out that way you suggest with a likely 2018 FBS debut, except without the look in you suggest. There won't be any "let's see where they stand". Ready or not, if they are in the SBC and want to be FBS, they can begin the transition.
