Texas traffic stop.
The woman committed suicide in jail. MSNBC is (of course) fanning the flames of racism, claiming she may have been murdered in jail. But ...

1) she had marijuana in her system
2) she had a history of suicide attempts
3) she told her mother before she started on her trip to Texas that she was coming to Texas to "correct" the recent string of well-publicized injustices against blacks.

She was an unstable time bomb, and she went off.

What was the cause of the "arrest"? Not putting out her cigarette?

Being a deliberate "A-Hole" to the Trooper. Remember He was being very polite until She escalated the Situation. She disobeyed direct orders He was requesting of Her and She went off which in turn set Him off. 2 wrongs don't make a right but if You are stopped, Listen to what is being asked of You and follow orders. No way however was She "Murdered" in jail.

RE: Texas traffic stop.
I shouldn't judge from afar, but that's what we do here:

1) The cop appeared to have short man's syndrome (no one was going to push him around) with Nazi tendencies.

2) The woman was a nut case with an attitude, looking for a confrontation with the police (fueled by the left wing/Al Sharpton media).

There was no way that traffic stop was going to end well.

RE: Texas traffic stop.
My fiance' got pulled over in NC for speeding. The cop was going to write her a ticket, and was very serious/agitated with her. She realized midway through that she had her sunglasses on. So she took them off. She said his demeanor immediately changed, he became nicer, and let her off with a warning.

A little respect, kindness, and decency goes a long way in dealing with police.

Seems like the #BlackLivesMatter crowd could use a lesson in common decency and social behavior.

She was an unstable time bomb that obviously killed herself. The fact that the cop acted like an SS Nazi drunk on power is also a valid point. Both sides have some valid points.

This is fine and well, but in the Army, we had an ROE in country and it did not have a clause that said "unless they piss you off." You have protect yourself if someone presents danger, but you can't react just because of anger or ego. This is a women acting stupid on a traffic stop. He took her to jail because he was mad about cigarette smoke. He needs to be retrained on controlling his emotions. He is likely going to cost his city a lot of money due to his ego.

Being a deliberate a-hole is not a crime. Agree that no way she was murdered in jail.

RE: Texas traffic stop.
This is once again a reason WHY there needs to be a universal class when ANY individual gets behind the wheel or a pedestrian in the car.

Why there is NOT a class that EVERY individual who posses a DL should pass on the proper procedure (also DRIVERS RIGHTS) on what they can and can not do in mid boggling.

Why hasn't #BlackLivesMatter brought this request up?

Why hasn't #BlueLivesMatter made this an issue?

He escalated the situation. First, there was no reason for the stop. Second, it's her vehicle, she can smoke all she likes. Third, she doesn't have to leave her vehicle unless she is being detained or arrested. The officer did neither. The officer is actually very much in the wrong in the way he handled this.

Trooper Brian Encinia, stopped Bland on July 10 for failing to signal a lane change near the campus of Prairie View A&M University, the historically black college from which she graduated in 2009 and at which she was interviewing for a job.

I agree. Black people need to learn that you attract more flies with honey than vinegar.

Something that every poster in this room does about 5 times a day. The cop sped up behind her and I believe that she said that she was trying to get out of his way.

The point of the thread is that MSNBC said her death may have been murder; maybe she didn't hang herself ... maybe some white cop strung her up.

For MSNBC to go there is irrresponsible when all facts show otherwise.

Well there is the missing jail house tape and the Waller county coroner just requested to have her body shipped back to Texas (from Chicago) for a second autopsy so yeah, the story isn't over.

Do you know why he is speeding up behind you?

I'll give you a little lesson from a former LEO. First, he is trying to read your license #, color, make of vehicle to dispatch and to see if there is any craziness going on inside car (for example, cell phone use, unbuckled passengers, hiding drugs/weapons, identifying how many passengers etc). He needs to know if this car is the correct make and model (make sure not stolen) and if the registered owner has any warrants for his arrest.

We wouldn't want a LEO approaching a vehicle who is a possible felon or wanted from the law.

There's no need to swerve to another lane when LEO is behind you. This isn't a video game
