I want to be on the sports page, not the front page.

I'm always hesitant to tout our years of success in keeping off the front page since something could happen tomorrow. Still, it's clear to me that Coach Shields made signing good character guys a priority. I feel confident Coach Beard will do likewise from everything I've heard about him. Doesn't mean we will never have a player arrested, but the chances are much better that we won't when you sign the "right" type of kids to begin with. At my age, I've come to the realization that I'd rather have a program I can be proud of, even if it means winning a few less games.

If we have good character kids and only win 25-28 games a year instead of 30, I can live with that.

It's a whole new world at LR.

I get the feeling that he may not be long for that job. Those arrests are going to decimate a lot of their remaining talent, leading to another bad year, and I'm not sure fans will put up with another of those.

Always a chance that anyone on the roster could get into trouble. The point is that the coach has to draw the chalk line from the start. "No nonsense."

I'm sure he does. The kids are suspended indefinitely. It will be interesting to see how long "indefinitely" is.
