LR Adds Evan Moorman to 2015-16 Roster

LITTLE ROCK – Head coach Chris Beard has announced the addition of 6-1 guard Evan Moorman to the 2015-16 men's basketball roster.

Moorman played the 2014-15 season under head coach Swede Trenkle at Hill College in Hillsboro, Texas. He earned Second Team All-District honors after averaging 10.9 points and shooting 52.2 percent from 3-point range to rank third nationally. Moorman's 107 made 3-pointers in 2014-15 were sixth-most nationally.

"Evan Moorman is the best pure shooter that I have coached," Trenkle said. "He has the ability to get himself open and make 3-pointers most players can't. Evan is a great young man with a very good work ethic and love for the game."

He scored in double figures 17 times on the season, including a season-high 30 vs. Georgia Highlands in the NJCAA Tournament consolation game that saw him connect on 10 of 14 shots from 3-point range.

Of the 31 games in which Moorman appeared for Hill College, he made multiple treys in 26, including nine games with at least five made 3s.

He finished the season shooting 48.6 percent from the floor and 84.4 percent from the foul line.

Moorman played his freshman season at Florida National University where he averaged 15 points and shot 51.0 percent from 3-point range.

Moorman played his high school basketball at White Station in Memphis, Tenn., under head coach Jesus Patino. He averaged double figures while helping lead the Spartans to a District Championship.

I hate to keep beating a dead horse....but, This tells you the difference in recruiting . We get a guy like Evan Moreman to come for a year without a scholarship to play for Coach Beard. He averaged almost 11 points and is a great shooter. Previous regime SIGNED players that averaged 5 and 7 points per game to full scholarships.
I feel really good about the size and talent of this roster. The best overall in a long, long time.

Who knows what he will actually do here, but shooting 52% from the arc anywhere is pretty impressive.

His stats say he averaged three minutes a game. Obviously a misprint. A guy playing three minutes doesn't get to shoot that many shots and make second team all district.

I did see him in one pickup game and he can shoot it for sure.

Did anyone see a turnip truck passing near the Trojan campus?

We have six seniors on the roster. I would guess that Evan is promised a scholarship for next season.

Doc, does this make him III or IV?

I'll have to see him in person, and if he looks like he might qualify, I'll have to check my family tree.
