You're confusing our university with your favorite down in Oxford, if it wasn't for the $$ they spread around, they couldn't compete at all.

No $EC team can compete without throwing money around - not just Ole Miss.

Let's see Bama go up against Ohio State for a Florida recruit. Let OSU offer $ and Bama can offer tradition...let's see where he goes (We'll never know, bc Bama gon pay)

Not a knock, but it's not like this kid is a 5-star, he's only 3. Bammer is in on 8, 4-star safeties for 2016. Why not come here and be the star.

Obviously you can never count Bama out for those 4 star guys, but they aren't the favorite for a lot of those guys (if you listen to the 'experts')

They've take 3-star guys before- quite often.

Still, he would probably play sooner here...but Bama is hard to pass up. Auburn too for that matter.

Would be a huge get - from that standpoint.

All those schools pay not just Ole Miss. When your recruiting three star and up talent sometimes you have to or at least make some kinda deal ask josh pastner.

WOW.... so if I'm the kid knowing Bama is recruiting that many 4*'s or higher at the same position and had the opportunity to sign with an up an coming school and probably be in the 2 deep rotation his freshman year, where do you sign? I would say the Tigers.

They will tell him that they are only going to sign 4; and that the other 3 will be converted to LB, DE or DB.

The more likely scenario for him to end up here is for him to commit to Alabama and ride the pine for a couple of years. Then he transfers somewhere he can play.

Just playing devil's advocate here...

3-star goes to Bama,

- redshirt as a true FR
- Start on special teams as a RS FR
- 3rd string/special teams as a RS SO
- 2nd string as a RS JR
- 2nd string as a 5th year senior, but see the field a decent amount.

He wins 2 national championships and 2 SEC titles.

or

Goes to Memphis,

Starts as a true FR
Win the AAC and play in a Miami Beach type bowl.

Justin Fuente leaves after another successful season...

Goes 7-5 the next season - Birmingham Bowl
Miss a Bowl
Miss a Bowl

Started all 4 years.

Obviously, that's just one scanrio...but that's the other side of your argument. Tough decision, IMO. Especially with a brother on the team and being from AL.

Nobody wants to ride the bench their entire career. Saban doesn't have room in his 2 deep for any 5 year benchwarmers.

Sounds like the flip-side to the "Fuente is a lifer and we are going 10-2 forever" crowd...

He's probably hearing more of the flipside than our side.

Why would you think that another coach couldn't take Memphis to a bowl...

Porter was a horrible hire...Tommy got us to a bowl and Stobart would have got us to a bowl in todays game and Stobart did it with a harder schedule. Hell there was a year that he was 3-0 against the SEC west. One year we played Miss, Miss. St. Arkansas and Miami and went 6-5 for the season.

In fact, why not acknowledge that much greater things are possible for the future? Last season, we came within a narrow loss to Houston of beating out Boise State for one of the playoff bowl spots. Fuente might stay. If he leaves, there are other great coaches who can see how far we have already come and the great potential that remains, especially if the Big 12 gets smart and adds us. Dare to believe.
