It sucks that the team was taken out when we were just starting to get on a roll, but no one should want to go back to what we used to be. The reinstatement wasn't something that merely happened because the money was right, it was ushered in with a unity that decided things can't continue on this way. What's coming back to the field in a few years is not a team broken by old men with grudges. That team will be the product of our willingness to step up and showing them that we're done with them holding us down.

Again, I was all about those upcoming games but what we lost can't even begin to compare with what we stand to gain. People finally accepting that the trustees' tampering isn't some conspiracy theory, folks seeing that we truly have one of the worst presidents, the Kahn-Bruno thing, and so on wouldn't have been on any radar if this didn't go down. I hate what happened to these programs and, especially, the student athletes, but the future has never been brighter thanks in part to the spotlight that'll be on everything going on at the school now.

Wow! Well stated.

I agree about it being wrongly taken from us. I do think UAB folks are more united, folks are less likely to take it for granted, we will get at least some much needed facility improvements, and for that first year or two after starting back we are going to get publicity that you couldn't buy.

It sucks and I wish we didn't have to go through it. But if we make the best of the circumstances, we can turn the negative into a positive.

UAB has something we never had before. UAB now has a core group of the most powerful influential businessmen in the state backing us. And they are relatively young. UAB was in a critical situation because the few big money backers we had were Gene Bartow devotees and of the ones that still supported UAB are getting kind of old. UAB now has people fighting for us that have the ability to counter Bryant and his minions.
