RE: Megaconferences
I realized I broke up Miami-FSU and The Iron Bowl. Version 3.0 ahoy.
Tweak-tweaked divisions:
Megaconference 1: Red States
Atlantic Division: UVA, VT, UNC, NCST, Duke, WF, Pitt, WVU, UofL
Coastal Division: Clemson, USC-E, UGAg, GT, TN, FSU, UF, Auburn, UK
Southeastern Division: Alabama, Ole Miss, Miss State, LSU, Arkansas, TAMU, Texas, Vandy, Miami
Plains Division: Baylor, TCU, TTU, OU, Oklahoma St, Mizzou, Kansas, Kansas State, Nebraska
Permanent Rivals:
Duke-GT, TN-VT, FSU-Miami, Clemson-NCST, UNC-SC, WVU-UK, Auburn-Alabama, Vandy-WF, Texas-OU, TAMU-TCU, Baylor-TTU, OklahomaSt-Arkansas, UVA-Mizzou, Nebraska-UGAg (Corndawgs!), UF-LSU, UofL-KState, Ole Miss-Kansas, Pitt-MissState
You play everybody in your division (8). You then play one permanent rival (9). You then rotate 1 to 2 other games (10-11). In basketball, you could play a home-and-home round robin against your entire division and still rotate games in all the other divisions. Which would be *HUGE* for many of the divisions. I can already hear rejoicing in NC over the restored home-and-home round robin.
Casualties:
- Bama vs TN (already broken)
- UNC vs GT
- TN vs Vandy
Restored:
- TAMU vs Texas
- Missouri vs Kansas
- GT vs Auburn
- GT vs TN
- Pitt vs WVU
- VT vs WVU
And actually 3 out of 4 of those permanent rivals are *really* interesting games or historic rivalries. This actually works out shockingly well.
