How many times do you guys have to be told? It's not expansion, it's replacement!

Is App State moving to the Big South to open the slot for Coastal?

From what a couple of posters on the EKU message board who attended the the big Colonel Club event last night are saying, the SB officials are visiting Coastal next week and a decision is expected by the end of August.
Same posters are stating the big thing for EKU was improving the venues for football, baseball and softball. Those plans are in the works.

Done in 2004, I still have it bookmarked and reference it a lot. I just don't think it applies much any more. Most of the Athletic Department staff was still around from the old school. Guys who treated it as a 9-5 and while they had passion for what they did, were not outside the box thinking and did what's always been done. The U has grown about 10,000, there's hundreds to thousands more on-campus and near-campus housing. Spirit has grown and there's a feel that the U takes athletics more seriously than the end of my student career. Its a great reference and starting guide, but a new study would look quite different.
Do you consider Georgia State a similar situation? A high research, urban school that decided they wanted to focus on the undergraduate, residential student. They determined that football was important and were able find a way to pay for it.
How f-ball working out for Georgia State? Big crowds? Healthy finances? Embraced by the students and community? Winning?
ga state may be facing a lot of the same issues as uta with regards to stirring up fans support and creating a sports brand but the main difference would be that uta had football for 60 or 70 years and there are still those alumni and supporters out there that remember the experience. utsa even tho in a metro area and having no real sports history is surrounded by a million or so prospective fans that are eager to have a team of some kind to support and rally behind. beside the spurs, san antonio is a big time sports void. I think they have shown that they will succeed. ga state and uta on the other hand have to compete in already saturated markets. there are 3 other fbs schools within miles and the metro areas have every pro sports option not to mention the myriad of other entertainment choices. uta has 200,000 alumni and a history of playing football so we may have a slightly better footing but it will be tough.

The plans for all three stadiums look really good. I did not hear anyone say there would be a decision in August. It seems that either no one has a clue when, they aren't saying if they do know, or what I did hear was most likely a "year away". Very, very nice event, and the purpose for the Colonel Club was to encourage stepping up levels in giving/membership. First time I have ever had an " adult" beverage in Alumni Coliseum. Lots of fun and EKU enthusiasm!
On another note, plans for beer sales on the patio in the end zone for some football games this fall.
Half time should be interesting....out of the stands and on to the patio.

The year away seems most likely. After football and basketball season end, make an announcement. Not really a full year, but a few months away.
