A sign that the Conference is set to go the distance with UAB. I will be so glad when this all comes together and is behind us.

Should have brought their lone player that just transferred from Memphis.

I don't think they've done preview shows for a few years.

Our Scout.com writer @ GoldenEaglePride was at the opening reception last night. He mentioned that ASN's president spoke: he stated that they are enjoying their relationship with CUSA, wants it to grow; want Thursday Night CUSA game of the week in the future; looking to get into more homes; and that their network is on the up and up.

That is good to hear minus the Thursday night talk, but we probably all know that was coming eventually...Still better than being on at 9 at night on a Tuesday night...

Did he give any hints as to whether we'll be happy or not?

Will be great if enough affiliates pick up the games. Local TV prime time on a weeknight.

He didn't. They just sort of mentioned it in passing and moved on to another topic.

RE: Conference USA Media Day
ASN's first year was always going to be a little tough for them because they had no numbers to show to advertisers or local affiliates. Now they can show the numbers to companies and other stations--numbers that were apparently pretty impressive, at least in some markets. I imagine we will see some real commercials this year instead of ad council ads.

We'll probably see basketball games scaled back a good bit though. Didn't seem like those were performing very well based on the fact that some affiliates were pushing back against airing them, or even airing them after the events had already taken place rather than live.

Some hoops games probably didn't do well because they were on the .2 affiliate stations. Meaning if you had cable without a box you'd have to unplug your cable and have your TV search antenna channels.

Not going to have good ratings having people do that.

I've heard football way over-performed expectations and basketball under-performed.
