Don't know much about EKU and honestly have doubts that they're under serious consideration as an add. I suspect if there is another addition soon, it would be Coastal Carolina, but not as a football member.....probably just Olympic sports and as a travel partner for App State.
Some of their recent history:
NCAA basketball appearances in 2014 and 2015......NIT appearances in 2010 and 2011, CIT in 2012.
NCAA baseball regional appearances in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2005 (#1 seed), 2007 (#1 seed and host), 2008 (#1 seed and host), 2009, 2010 (#1 seed and host), 2011, 2012, 2013.
NCAA baseball super regional appearances in 2008 and 2009 (#1 seed and host).
Toss in a stay in Myrtle Beach and I hardly think anyone would feel devastated.
You must be lost? Basketwhat? This is conference usa. If it ain't got FOOTBALL in the name we don't care.
I think once we drop Idaho, we'll be fine in football. You've probably noticed though that there's some major suckage on our part in basketball so anything we can do to shore up that end of things will be good. We've got a decent baseball league, adding Coastal should take things up another knotch.

You'll find out quickly that leagues don't matter much anymore. You joined CUSA...congrats, that means nothing really. You're talking to a fan of the one Sun Belt School who has never really been interested in moving over. (Though throw in some cash and we might be persuaded) You guys are really nothing more than basically the Sun Belt 2.0 now...and would be nothing more than a lateral move for most of us.
More Sun Belt rah-rah lunacy. Nobody is calling Arkansas State because they don't bring anything so I'm glad your fanbase (or maybe just you) has stopped holding your breathe for an invite that isn't coming. You guys can keep touting all that "lateral move" or "Sun Belt 2.0" nonsense but when the UAB Troubles were occurring everybody in the Sun Belt was waiting by the phone for it to ring. And on these boards pimping.
Leagues matter plenty. FCS schools aren't refusing CUSA invites. It means we have a TV deal that pays. It means playing schools that actually care about basketball and spend money to compete. CUSA=better football, better basketball, better revenue and better programs.
Sun Belt=crappy basketball, low budgets and limited success
Nothing to the table? Astate has nly won 4 of the last 5 sun belt football titles. How many CUSA teams hosting an SEC team this year? Do some research bc it won't take you long to figure out the 2 teams that keep the SBC floating along.
We are. What's your point? The only reason you guys are winning those "championships" is because many of the better teams left the conference.
Uhh...We won our Championships before everyone left the conference. We did not win the conference last year.

Keep in mind this is not a football invitation. Coastal is being considered for a Non Football invite. EKU is another story, but I'm not sure they have the votes to get in.

The first 2 we won was before realignment. We won 2 after the major shuffle also. Mayby these 2 games will jog your memory

EKU? As in Eastern Kentucky? As in these guys...
If so, I'm no longer worried about FBS continuing to expand because you are then officially out of legitimate candidates to possibly move up if these guys are next on the call-up sheet.

The FCS schools I see as being able to potentially move up in time: Delaware, Montana, Montana State, NDSU, SDSU, Missouri State, Alabama State, Florida A&M.

I would add JMU to that list. Then again they could already be in the sunbelt if their Administration wasn't holding out hope for an invitation that isn't coming.

Probably even Illinois State also. I'm sure there may even be more but I know some of those are flagship schools in their states. Some of them have bigger fan followings and better facilities than some FBS programs.

There is nobody left to invite which is why everyone is turning up their nose to CPCU and EKU.

CPCU? Never heard of them. EKU? Might as well go after Morehead State.

Politics aside, Liberty has a lot of resources for a FCS program and are determined to move up if they could ever find someone desperate enough to take them.

RE: G5 Blogger Proposes Merger between C-USA and Sun Belt
I think the Sunbelt does have good potential name brands in Texas State, Arkansas State, Louisiana, New Mexico State, and Georgia Southern. Wish CUSA would've got them when they had the chance. I think a university that carries the name of the state or is followed by State, Tech, A&M,... help perception. Thus leaving me to believe the Belt should take a look at... say, Alabama State, Missouri State, Florida A&M, ect... for the next call up. Or the best of CUSA and the best of the Belt merge.

Liberty could always try to strive to be like the Baylor of the east.

Kind of bleeding in from the Mac thread but I would imagine the only way any of these four: Montana, Montana State, NDSU, SDSU, make the move to FBS would be to the Mac. If the bottom half of the Mac did fall out then I think they would survive and have several decent choices between those 4 to choose from. They could also go for a pairing of Deleware and JMU.
