I love it when Southerners talk about Pizza and Northerners talk about spicy / fried food!

Pizza in the south SUCKS ........ Anything that resembles Italian is a no go in the south. Olive Garden is garbage!

Restaurants in the north can't cook spicy / fried food for $***. Yankees think Popeye's and KFC is good eats. lol

What about when Northerners or Italians open up pizza joints in the south? They all of a sudden suck because they are in the south? That's redonk.

Popeyes is good eating. KFC is trash

I've yet to go to a good Italian of Mexican restaurant in the south.

Mellow Mushroom pizza is good, but if you're looking for New York style, I can understand why one would not like it. I like both, but if I'm in the mood for one, I'm not really interested in the other. My favorite pizza in Charlotte is from Portofino's (no relation to the one in Boone) and most of my Yankee friends from Jersey, NY, and Philly enjoy it, too.

He said its because of the water, which isn't the first time I've heard that explanation. Also said the tomato's were better in Jersey which was a new one to me.

I enjoy the food at Bojangles more than Popeyes (and of course KFC) but most of their locations are so filthy you wouldn't want to go to the bathroom there much less consume food. Clean and well run Bojangles franchises are a thing to treasure.

The Bojangles in Statesboro was a disgusting mess and didn't last long. If I have to eat chain store fried chicken, let it be Pye-pye's every time.

Seriously, in Boone, avoid franchise restaurants. Don't get a draft beer if you go to Murphy's. It's a cool bar but I heard a rumor that they never clean their tapp lines.

You are consistent!!

Statesboro around the campus has really grown and is all mostly very nice and new. Around downtown Statesboro ALL the hotels are a roll of the dice. If you don't mind a short drive stay and exit up or down to avoid the game weekend minimums and price hikes. If you rent more than one room you can talk them out of the two night minimum stay usually. Or tell them your stay has nothing to do with the game and be nice.

Speaking of, they just put a new one up on 421 in Boone near the Hess.

if you wear visiting team garb, Mel's Dinner in Boone will tell you that they only have to go cups if you want to dine in.. Then continuously bring glass drink wear to everyone who comes in behind you.

It's cool though. Just ask for a refill just before you leave.

Maybe they only do that to Southern fans? Hate to think what might be part of the refill though 03-puke

I beg to differ. Although he passed away a couple of years back and his resturant has been closed for years, Solliceto's in Boone had some of the best pizza and Italian food to be found. Mike was a NJ Native born to immigrants from Sicily. Bobby Cremins, and several of his staff were New Yorkers as were others in Boone. Most nights it was like Little Italy in there. Sinatra, Martin, Darin and Bennett tunes playing constantly. It was awesome in so many ways.

Is that the Mr. S from Jupiter Coyote's Real Thing?

Lupi's in Chattanooga (at least Downtown) is the BEST pizza I've ever had.

I was told about it by somebody who had a son that lived in Nooga for a while. Tried it on our last trip while playing UTC. WOW. Nothing compares since, MM doesn't come close.

If those guys ever get into the Belt or if you travel through (Actually a great town to visit, lots of fun things to do in that town) - do yourself a favor and try Lupi's Pizza.

I went to Lupi's the time before last. I came away a fan.
