I think so too. Kid looks like he can really play. I like his ability to see the court and he has good size for a pg. Really good get for us. Looking forward to seeing how all these new guys look and what they will do this year.

Could be the next Cam Payne.

Probably not but you never know.

Doubt he sees the floor next year- more likely a pet project for Damon to begin his head coaching career.

No, he is saying there is no progress without struggle. It is possible to have struggle without progress

I'm not sure. It's not like we have an abundance of talent at the guard spot. I guess Tarrant and Crawford will be the two main stays but other than that it's wide open as all the other guys are concerned with the exception of Kedren who is just way too inconsistent. One of these freshman will emerge either Broddie, Martin or Randall and one of them will get some quality mins. We need to build for the future so we should invest in these young guys and not in a guy that is not committed to basketball. How would you rank the guards coming in to this year? For me Tarrant would have to be number one with Crawford two and I guess Kedren the third best but I don't think it's unrealistic that one of these freshman could surprise and get some mins this year.

I think the kid looks good. More athletic than Broddie and taller than Martin.
But the vid I saw had him mainly playing against white kids trying to keep up with him. IIWII.

How much he plays depends on whether his outside shot translates, I think.

In the meantime, I believe we'll lead the nation in left-handed guards on the roster. Instead of the Memphis Southmen, we'll have the Memphis Southpaws.

It's according to what kind of shape and commitment we get from Kedren. Crawford could nudge Kedren out if he's not on top of his game. From past history I'll bet Josh goes with Tarrant and Kedren until someone proves otherwise. Kedren can hit a 3 AND FT's. Crawford is a heck of a talent and may emerge from the pack. Kedren was the steadying force last year the last half of the season. A trait we couldn't count on from anyone else aside from Austin until AN went down and Shaq woke up. Who knows what Josh will do? If he figures he's leaving after this year he's not going to worry about grooming young guys for the future and will and should play the best he can put on the floor.

I always wondered about that. Tape that sucker and play, you got all off-season to heal.

I'd rank them:

Tarrant (CUSA FOY, starter at Tulane/Alabama)
Markel (top 100 HS, starter at Memphis)
Kedren (top 100 HS, starter at Vanderbilt/Memphis)
Avery (just based on having DI experience, starter at Memphis)
Broddie
Martin
Randall

I'm ranking the HS guys based on their HS rankings - like I said, who knows, maybe the kid is the next big thing, but I find it hard to see him cracking the rotation - especially considering Burrell can play the 2 as well - so, no telling what kind of lineups they run out there.

At the very least, someone is getting left out in the cold or redshirting or whatever.

And where does KJ fit in? In some ways, we are loaded.

I'd say he's a F with his brother.

Shaq and Marshall are the bigs.

Yep - we're built more like VCU or Wichita than typical Memphis teams in some respects (or we resemble most good A10 teams in general) - small ball/three guard - should run and press when possible, zone against bigger teams, etc.
