If you want to get technical they legally can't make that order as by US Code for the US flag to be flown at half-staff at a federal institution the order has to come from the President. Evidently Obama was too busy going to see Hamilton on Broadway and then a DNC fundraiser to do that part of his job.

The point is that the President only orders it done for federal government facilities. It's up to state governors to do it for the citizenry, etc. in their own state.

Here in Michigan, we lower the flag every time an active duty military person is killed while on duty, by proclamation of the Governor.

Right...because we don't typically lower the flag for active duty service members who lose their life in the line of duty. Many argue it shows favoritism to one over others...something the military is not real keen on usually.

But he has in the past after mass shooting events on domestic soil involving US service members like the Navy Yard shooting and Fort Hood. Why was this one different?


And we don't have to look for stuff to get pissed about because Obama is more than happy to just hand them out like Halloween candy.

Why do you constantly try to defend Obama?

The Navy yard and Ft. Hood had many more victims for one...and at the Navy yard, I think all those killed were either civilians or contractors.

Ft. Hood is an odd case because it has been classified as workplace violence and not an attack on our military per se.
