Are you shocked by this? I am not.

what about mexico?....certainly you aren't shocked that they didn't make the grade...for obvious reasons, they probably didn't even send a team.....
No. I am not surprised. The wealthy run Mexico(drug cartels included) and it is their economic philosophy to keep and maintain wealth at the top and keep the average population illiterate or near illiterate because it creates a permanent underclass and cheap labor. Pretty much what many on here on the right are pushing for to be implemented here whether they know it or not.

wow....can I coin this as a 'bob' epiphany...so wealth means nothing anywhere else relative to politics and only wealthy mexicans want to keep the little man little....that's the only place that happens....got it....

or....are you saying that all weathy people are hoarders that printed their own money so they could belittle the poor

or....they don't give a shite and sip margaritas by the sea and communicate via cell phone to make sure their money is still in the safe....

or.....money is evil if someone has more than someone else

I'm sure there are other possibilities....feel free to add
As I said, the wealthy run the country. and keep the wealth at the top through their policies like the education(or lack there of) of their citizens making a permanent low income class in order to get the cheap labor. The same thing is happening in this country. We will be much like Mexico in the years ahead if we continue on the path we are on.

Jeez Robert , What part of Closing the Border don't You understand. We don't want an undereducated, dependent underclass coming here either. We have enough of Our Own disadvantaged and disabled American people to take care of. Seems only the DNC wants open borders for future dependent voters.
Have you ever read the Statue of Liberty? Here is a hint. It doesn't say "Send us your wealthy, educated masses".

I was talking about Carlos Slim and the other wealthy in Mexico but yes, the wealthy in this country(both sides) are gaining too much influence.

If my assertion is true?..(and I have no idea)..it is a clear indictment of a societal problem. We should be ashamed as the self proclaimed "melting pot" that ALL of our young people are not equally talented in this respect. Let's not mince words....We both know why the Asian American community excels academically. They WORK HARD and excellence is expected. Anything else is an unacceptable and an embarrassment to themselves and family. It is an outlook that all Americans should embrace IMO.

dude, this country would not have become what it is as quickly as it happened w/o a handful of monopolists driving the bus....the wealthy or the privileged due to birth (with the exception of the ooga booga-club carrying-hair draggin' folk) have always dictated policy in all forms of gov't throughout the history of mankind....if people really had a voice to determine policy? talk about chaos running rampant...do you live in a cave or are you home schooled by atari (oops, nintendo....oops, sony psX...oops, you're an xbox aficionado)

for once, you are right about the bolded....just not for the reason(s) you list....how you could think that the historical ineffectiveness of the mexican economic policy is what us gov't policy will eventually create is beyond silly....you are only right b/c they continue to squirt out puppies at a rapid rate....their numbers will be the difference maker in 30-50 yrs down the road....all they have to do is wait it out....

son, you ain't the brightest bulb in the pack.....

they saw how we achieved wealth....not hard to understand why they changed their tune and implemented the policies some now have....

Americans developed the footprint to achieve and prosper.....many nations took notes and are waiting for the results to mature...

however, now it's 'murica that has forgotten what being a republic is....too many here expect too much for too little.....and I was a "boss' son" at one time...

I used to tell my old man (plant mgr while I was just a young punk shop employee), that his pacifist managerial style would never last the test of time once corp 'murica took hold of the reigns....read the one minute manager....guess who I am...guess who he was....

god love the man....he's a saint, my hero, and will sit at the right hand if there's a heaven.....but this world ain't heaven

Actually he is right in #'s. I was mistaken. As for the rest, you actually believe that all Americans should be as mathematically gifted as those kids? That is insane. These kids are geniuses or near geniuses. I would bet you would get your ass whipped if you went up against these kids. How about we strive for everyone getting to at least advanced algebra?
