One might say, somewhat similar to the Florida State situation last year?

Last year FSU played and beat the Russell Athletic Bowl Champ, the Music City Bowl Champ, and the Orange Bowl Champ. Oh, yeah, the St. Petersburg Bowl and Birmingham Bowl Champs, too.

Is that list of Bowls supposed to be impressive?

So they beat #8,15,24. Also beat 4 teams(Syracuse, Wake Forest, Miami, and Virginia) who had losing seasons. Also 3 7 win teams. Looking at Anderson Hester, their regular season SOS was #53.

Will say Ohio St had a pretty easy schedule as well though even last year. Their regular season SOS was #47. And their schedule is worse this year- instead of Navy, Cincy, and Kent St, they have Northern Illinois, W Michigan, and Hawaii. Also their toughest conference games- Michigan St and Minnesota- and even I'd say Penn St- are home this year after being away last year.

How will the Buckeyes recover from a week #1 loss with that weak schedule?

Yeah, we get it, you guys are going to brag about that one win early last season until you actually do something of merit. God I hope you guys do well this year because it's pretty pathetic that you guys still act like you are hanging this over the heads of Ohio State considering they won the national championship after blanking Wisconsin, whom beat Auburn, beating Alabama and then beating Oregon.

Your right though, that loss to VT mattered so much.....

It easily could have. If Baylor or TCU hadn't lost, Ohio St would not have been in. And it wouldn't have been all that controversial.

Yes, I am sure many hokies tell themselves this everyday in order to feel better about their mediocre season last year. Every year is filled with "it easily could have's". That's just talk, the results are the results.

And yet, they were clearly the best team in college FB by the end of the season. Makes me wonder how many other best teams in college FB were locked out of contention during the BCS era.

It's so true. What we saw is that ALL championships of the past were all about media bias and not truly about results. Steve's own argument proves it. No one gave Ohio State a chance at winning it all and yet...they did it. They are more true of a champion than ANY previous champion ever was.

So much amusing news coming out due to the media days.

http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootball...es-fresher

None other than Gus Malzahn, head coach of JR's Tigers, complaining that its just too tough to play in the SEC. All this while supposedly loyal fans want to make it even tougher by getting the best from leagues like the ACC and Big 12. You want to add Oklahoma and Florida State? You may think it's cool as a fan but these guys who's jobs are on the line aren't really looking to have any more Blue Chip programs added. What the SEC needs, according to Malzahn, are role players.

Lots of excuses coming out of the SEC camp. They better get used to it. Urban just landed another 5 star out of Florida as well as landing the top ranked RB in the country. The pressure is making multiple SEC coaches crack.

That is awesome. Gotta be proud of something from last year I suppose. Get it all in while you still can. This season's game wont be Barrett's first game ever and Elliot will have Both hands to use this time.

You know those boys are coming to prove a very nasty point against you guys. You better show up around here after that game. 04-cheers

IMO, VT still shuts down the Ohio State offense. VT offense vs. OSU defense is a mystery. I think Urban Meyer wants to win special teams - and win big (THAT worries me!)

IMO Meyer is gonna treat this game like it was a playoff game. If it's within 20 points, it's a surprise. Ohio St's offense- no way VT shuts it down.

Ohio St has a better chance of winning this game by 50 than VT has of winning by 1 or more. Payback is a *****.

Mark, OSU offense got on the fast track after the game with you guys
last year. They were a different animal. Assuming they have a bunch of guys back from last year...........their offense should be really good.

He left out the Cactus bowl champs as well. Does that make it more impressive?

Yes, but only because it's here in Phoenix. It's actually going to be held at Chase Field this year, which should be interesting. That means downtown Phoenix compared to the Fiesta which is held out in Glendale.

I love Chase Field, I just hate watching the Diamondbacks there. The fans are so boring. I went to a game there when the Giants came to town and the Giants fans made more noise while only being, at most, about a quarter of the fans in attendance.
