Okay, so it's not an all time SBC team.

No problems CatMom, I only jumped in when I read your thread title. Since it's not a all time SBC team, I will jump back out. Thanks

RE: All Time SBC Team
Just a reminder...this first thread is for QB's only.

That's right the Quarter Back position. You know, the guy that stands under center and gets the ball hiked to him to hand off or throw or run with?

Other positions will be forthcoming. One position at a time (although it will be open for more than 2 on Oline, WR's TE's etc). We are talking 2 deep here.

Corey Robinson. Ranks 9th all-time in passing yards in the FBS with 13,477 yards. Ahead of greats such as Colt McCoy, Aaron Murray, Tim Rattay, and Chase Daniel.

RE: All Time (current team members) SBC Team
For GS, 4 QB's come to mind (since CatMom hasn't opened nominations for any other positions), in order of relevance:

Tracy Ham: 4 year starter. They named the offense after him for crying out loud... played in two 1-AA national title games and produced over 1000 yards of total offense, winning both. Over 700 yards combined passing and almost 300 combined rushing. Truly a talent ahead of his time... put him in one of today's HUNH spread offenses and it would have been a joke. College Football Hall of Fame member. "You can't tackle smoke."

Raymond Gross: 4 year starter. Maybe the most underrated 1-AA player ever. Led GS to two national titles (including a 15-0-0 season in 1989) and a runner-up. Finished his eligibility as the all time winningest QB in college football history (Armanti Edwards broke his record 19 years later).

Greg Hill: 3 year starter... went 37-6 as a starter, won the 1999 1-AA national title and was a 14-1 runner-up in 1998. SoCon offensive POTY in 1999 despite the fact that his teammate Adrian Peterson won the Payton Award that year while rushing for over 2700 yards and 40+ TD's. Under his leadership the 1999 offense for GS averaged 50 ppg for the 15 game season.

Jayson Foster: Payton Award winner in 2007... set the all time record for rushing yards by a QB in a single season that year with over 1800 yards in 11 games, also went over 1500 yards rushing in 2005.

Just a side recommendation.... If you ever want to see a tremendous football game and two obscene individual performances, watch the video of Appalachian State and Georgia Southern in 2007. Jayson Foster of GS and Armanti Edwards of App each put on a show with Foster running wild in the first half and Edwards going crazy in the second half.

GS won in a game that was decided in the final seconds and snapped App's 30+ game home winning streak. That was the year App beat Michigan and the went on to win the last of their 3-peat later that year. The 2006, 2007, and 2008 installments of this rivalry were as good as it gets in college football. 2006 was a 2OT App victory, GS "cracked the rock" in 2007, and App won in OT in 2008, just 3 tremendous games.

there have been a few uta players that went on to long careers in the nfl. Dexter Bussey, Tim Mckyer, Derrick Jensen, Cliff Odom, Bruce Collie and Skip Butler are a few that come to mind.

RE: All Time (current team members) SBC Team
I've been working OT for a while and don't stop by as often, so I'm trying to sneak this in.

Mike Baylor-3-year stasrter from 1966-1968. Is UTA's all-time leader in passing yards, completions, total yards, passing TD's, and prolly more, but my numbers are at home. Was the QB for two of UTA's three SLC championships and only bowl appearance/win.

David Bates-He only played in 1985, UTA's final year, but is UTA's single season leader in yards, completions and TD's. The thought of him returning with WR Keith Arbon in 1986 still makes me wish the president had given it one more year just to see (or really read in my case) what they could have done.

yes, many of the starters were quickly snapped by D-1 programs and we had a running back from u of nebraska that was projected to be their starter but got homesick and transfered .
