Source: UConn anticipates a P5 invite, plans stadium expansion
Unlike a lot of supposed insiders' proclamations, this one has an evidentiary basis to it.

Supposedly UConn is laying the groundwork for a stadium expansion. It seats 40,000 and apparently concrete plans are being implemented to expand it to 55,000.

UConn's Nike contract negotiations are on hold pending P5 bump.

Recruits are being told to expect to finish their career in a P5 conference.

Now the insiders revealing this are making their board crazy with excitement. As usual, caution should be used, but I have to say, in this environment, expanding the stadium is indicative of UConn's future. Unlike Cincy's renovation, which updates the stadium but does nothing for capacity.

I use to go to Boneyard for some laughs, but it's actually gotten quite sad over there. Are they still convincing themselves that the silence is golden from their administration?

I remember when Villanova's coach was telling recruits they would be playing FBS football, and he actually is a top class guy. Whoops.

They can pump that place up to 100K and I wouldn't cry "smoke." But build even a 20-25K OCS and I would.

I really wish you would just be banned already. Your obsession with UConn is borderline psychotic.

When it comes to college sports, there's two sources that you can pretty much discount right away:

1) Faculty senate members moving to cut back or eliminate a sport
2) Assistant coaches telling recruits that they'll be changing conferences.

RE: Source: UConn anticipates a P5 invite, plans stadium expansion
The name of UConn's stadium got changed today to Pratt & Whitney Stadium at Rentschler Field. Pratt & Whitney donated the land that the stadium is built on and today donated 25 more acres to add about 2,500 more parking spaces. There is nothing about stadium expansion in any news release today.
