Football Roster Observations
Just some things that jumped out to me:
- I count 34 true freshman on the roster.
- 6 QB's listed on the roster, 4 being incoming freshman.
- Brian Alsobrooks is listed as a K, which we have 4 listed.
- Cody Tuttle listed as a TE, total of 9 TE's on the roster.
- We have transfers from Pittsburgh (DL), Georgetown (RB), and a graduate transfer from Clemson (OL) on the roster.

Cole Gardner listed as an O-Lineman now after playing TE last year.

Interesting. A number of new faces since the last roster.
Again, I'll mention what I was told that we have (had) a number of scholarships to give. We have been giving them out...

I'm betting there are some positions changes for some of these players. Should be some interesting position battles. We may see some true frosh starting. Competition on a 2-10 team is a good thing.

I scanned the roster and in one sentence:
"Total rebuild [retooling] job [is] ongoing at the Factory."
I looked at Qbs: a couple redshirt sophs + a bunch of frosh.
That pretty well states what we will see in 2015.

One area I expect to see much improvement is QUICKNESS, better quickness on defense and better quickness on the OL along at WR.

Also several cases where a freshmen enrolled and his older brother transferred in.
Guys who were on the roster at the end of last year and now gone (excluding walk ons):
Mike Steals, Cameron Bouldin, Krayshawn Brewer, Hunter Matt, Kent Collins, Dwayne Brown, Kenny Jones.

I'm going to quote myself:
"Total rebuild [retooling] job [is] ongoing at the Factory."
That is scary. We may have a very favorable schedule, but the team will be as green as the... (grass outside the stadium ).

Dear steve,
That may be a good thing. Many of the players are red-shirt freshmen, and while they have not had actual game experience, they have been invested in the system, and are/should be familiar enough to make an impact. Plus the addition of some Junior college players who have experience, should make a difference too.
Just a feeling, but I think these players are hungry enough to make a difference this year. Not predicting MAC championship, but better overall.

This year's team could be decent or terrible. We'll see.
If it is terrible it is a bad team which lost tons of experience and replaced by young, development type prospects who are a few years away from being good contributors...
But as they say, that is why we play the games (to find out answers to these type questions).

That's strange about Hunter Matt. I know he's been working out with the team thoughout the summer. Could his omission just be a typo?

According to Matt's Twitter, he took summer classes. He also retweeted a picture of himself participating in team work-outs from the EMU Strong account on June 26th.

RE: Football Roster Observations
We have some experience coming back so it all won't be newcomers ie I expect Jackson/Lewis at RB, Bell/Roback at QB, Creel and Strange at WR. Offensive line does have some experience. Likewise defensive line and LB and I expect to see Beck and Pace as starters in the DB.
Depth at some positions and special teams will probably feature more inexperienced players.
By the next recruiting class (2016) this will be CC's team and players he and his staff have recruited.

The safe bet is "terrible." By terrible, I mean fewer wins than last season. It pains me to say this but there are no "Morgan States or Howards" on the schedule.

Dear Bob,
I could not disagree with you more. This team will be better than last year's record wise. I saw improved team speed and pursuit in this year's spring game, as well as nice runs by the running game. The way you are talking, we have made no progress, and will regress. I just don't see that.

Good for you Ken! I'm hoping that E Tough will be more than a motto and we start seeing it in action on the field.

Agreed. Cautiously optimistic for the start of the season.
We bring in a coach with a proven track record, and Bob must think he got lobotomized at the Washtenaw County border. In CC I trust.
