Early in the season when it's really hot nobody dresses up to this degree. Maybe a polo.
But once fall starts to creep up completely and the temps are in the 70's, every game people dress up nice at WKU. It's got a preppy vibe to it big time.
I remember when I traveled to the Illinois game with a dozen of my guy and gal friends, the Illinois fans kept asking if we were running for president hah. Guess it's just a southern thing... And WKU isn't even that far south!
Do ya'll still have greek letters on the sidelines?

Didn't know we ever did, but I know we do not now.
Charlotte's depends on the area. Right around the stadium and near the student union is hopping. Our problem the first 2 years was we made the students tailgate almost a mile away from the stadium. Once they were all boozed up alot of them just decided to go home and watch the games on TV. I believe this year are going to find some space closer.
We still have some work to do but with bigger name opponents and less games at Noon, I believe it will get even better.

Nobody in cusa can match the game day atmosphere, the tailgating, and Eagle Walk as it was 2yrs ago, probably never will. Those photos show only a small part of the overall participation.

I haven't been to any tailgates for conference schools other than WKU (obviously) & MTSU.
I gotta say I did enjoy MTSU's tailgate. The main spot was a little bit of a hike to the stadium, but I liked the "grove" like atmosphere. MTSU still sucks though
For WKU, I'll just share a couple photos.
Share your photos!

These people going to church or a football game? Looks awful dressy.
habe you never been to a football game in the south? Look in the stands at any auburn/ole miss game. All the frat boys look like this. I'm guessing that thi is just a homecoming game. Only Time they dress up like this at wku.

Nope, not a southern thing. In Mississippi, only Ole Miss does it and they are the stuck up school where everyone dresses alike. The exception being most schools have a few frat boys who do it I imagine.
At Southern Miss we some great tailgaiting. If you ever come down for a game, just walk around in your school colors and you will be warmly greeted and treated well. You will be well fed too. We know how to do southern hospitality right. Just stay away from the student section.

5th and 3rd avenues are lined all the way down. We tailgate about 3 blocks from the stadium and love our area. Great group of people. Dont even have to put your tailgate stuff up at halftime.

I really like how it's tucked in between the trees. It's kinda small, but a great start for a brand new program. Really wish I could make it down for the Marshall game this year.
This year our AD made an awesome decision to allow them to tailgate closer to the stadium. Last year their lots were about a mile away from the stadium and they weren't filling up their seats. The students are finally stepping up their game and Friday we had a record attendance of 17,444 despite the weather. Enjoy this video in 4K:
If you come to a game the tailgate experience and pre-game experience would make you think you're at an SEC school. I don't know how our pre-game could be any better. But then you get to the stadium and you fill like you were magically transported to the Lenoir Rhyne/Carson Newman game. I can't even figure out how to reconcile these two dynamics.

Oh hell!! Thats an issue for us as well. UL tailgates very well. No one (even wearing Tech blue) is ever hungry after walking around the stadium. BUT it seems like many fans are content to watch the games on tvs at their tailgate. If you figure this out please let me know!

I don't know exactly how to do it, but I have harped on our athletic dept for years to try to figure out a way to address it.
IMHO, I believe the university has done an amazing job to create a party-like atmosphere outside the stadium gates, so the answer - perhaps - is to create the same party-like atmosphere inside the stadium. Lots of ideas on this, but it will take a mammoth culture shift at Middle.

I believe we have the police clear folks out of the parking lots during the 1st quarter and don't allow them to return till after the 2nd half begins. I believe that was the original plan for us anyway, but since I'm in my seat during this I'm not 100%.
