Anchorage
Just back from a vacation to Alaska. Part of our trip took us to Anchorage where the Rockets will be playing this coming season. I hope they have built in to the trip a chance for all to see Mt. McKinley. The mountain is stunning and would be an awesome experience for all. Saw the arena from the outside. It has a big arena feel to it. As does Anchorage has a big city feel with a population of just short of 301,000.

RE: Anchorage
Denali is the tallest mountain (above sea level) in the world and quite spectacular. I'd love to see the Rockets play there but probably won't. Plan to see Denali anyway.

RE: Anchorage
Denali is one beautiful-majestic mountain in just as spectacular a setting.

November in Alaska, short days. Is the aurora going? I'd get out away from the city lights to see that. I think the train between Anchorage and Fairbanks goes by Denali (still open?) I didn't take it but that should be spectacular. Glaciers are okay but it wouldn't be my top three choices.

Pancakes and seafood is all that's really important.

Mt. Everest?

He was setting you up. From base to tip, Denali is believed the tallest land based mountain. The peak of Mr. Everest has the highest elevation (though that's in doubt).

Mauna kea in Hawaii is the worlds largest sea floor to summit. Everest is the tallest but its base is already very high altitude

Everest is the highest in altitude but the base is at 17,000. Denali starts near sea level, so the altitude change between base and summit is the highest of any land based mountain. More dramatic than Everest.

And thought not a part of the stats, the view is less occluded by other mountains making it even more dramatic.

The Tetons are still prettier though. And funner to say.

Lies and propaganda!!!! "Col" is useful to Martians looking through telescopes and global warming conspiracyists. Compared to SURROUNDING topography, the thing that makes a mountain BIG, Denali is Da'Man!

Now let's end this silly attempt at cultural destabilization before I have to call Homeland Security.
