Disagree. We played the worst game of the year while WKU played their best game. I think we beat them by 2 touchdowns. We should have no problem winning the East again this year.

I'll take the team with the proven QB 10/10.

Marshall may be the better team, but going into the season, WKU is the safer bet because they have a proven QB.

Good news for MT is that we've got Marshall at home. I look forward to another upset possibly.

That's why I like WKU so much. They are going to have to play Arena ball to win, but they have the QB to do it.

Driskel is new to Tech, but he is a Fifth year senior, who led a team to the SEC east champs and the Sugar Bowl. There is a big difference between Driskel and a QB that has never play a down or been a backup.

Bomb and float doesn't work against a good defense with fast DB's. Defense wins championships

Hell be good, but not better than Sokol. Sokol was good enough to get the job done, but he wasn't great. I wonder why it didn't work out for Driskel at Florida? Be careful not to build him up into something he's not. He'll be adequate, but not a star.

Wasn't there a coaching change? Also, the stats show a significant regression.

Nobody really knows. Sokol was a back-up at Iowa before coming to Tech.

I'm not expecting him to be a star. If Driskel has a year like Sokol had last year, Tech will win CUSA

Good to hear. I hope everyone's team is as good as we seem to think they'll be.

WKU 10th in CUSA and top 40 in some preseason rankings, wow the league is going to be tough this year. 04-jawdrop

RE: Preseason CUSA Media picks are in
Regarding the Marshall QB situation. I won't hide from it. You've heard me say that replacing a four year starting QB is the hardest thing to do in CFB.

However, there is one caveat here. Marshall has the most talent in the league. They have one of the best OL's and RB's in the league. They will have what I think will be the best defense in the league (and by a wide margin), so all they need in the QB position is someone serviceable.

They just need a guy who will go into the huddle call the play, then STFU and not turn the football over. If he does that Marshall will march to an undefeated conference record.

The scenario that Marshall has this season is one that I see very similar to the 1998 Tennessee team that won the national championship (not that I'm saying Marshall will do that mind you). All Tennessee had to do was somehow figure out a way to replace Jesus - I mean Peyton Manning - but they had everything else in place. All they needed was a QB not get in the way of the rest of the team. Tee Martin did just that and stayed out of the way.

Marshall very well could go undefeated this year in the season following the Cato era. The season is nigh. We will find out soon enough.

Personally, I thought we were in for a down season. I haven't been claiming anything great for UNT this season. But, in light of my recent conversation, I confident we will make a bowl. Not saying we will win the conference, but we should make a bowl.

The big question about Driskel is whether or not he will be able to stay in the pocket and pass as well as Sokol did last season. He does have one big advantage over Sokol in his running ability but that could lead to an injury. The jury is still out on our DC but we will have a very solid defensive backfield and that can make most DC's look good.
