RE: Eight 16 Team Conferences

The ideal conference size is 10- in football you move to a 9 game conference schedule so everybody plays everybody every year. In basketball an 18 game conference schedule give every team a home/away series vs every other conference member.
Should football be a seperate indentity from the rest of the college sports? You could create new conferences like they already do in some sports like hockey. I know college rodeo have the conferences for schools in a region, not strung about. You could see U.Conn., U.Mass., Boston College and some others in a tight region.
