An unfortunate situation. Apparently some Tulane players tried to barge into a closed fraternity party, and hilarity did not ensue.

I hate being left out of parties too, but you're only a guest. Dang.

Actually some of the frat members jumped a freshman football player that did not travel with the team to Dallas for the SMU game. When the team returned a few players went and confronted some frat members. This is not as big as it is being made out to be. If it was then arrest would have been made that night.

This was a closed party for bid night.
There is no reason the Tulane players should be barging in the party, and they were completely out of line.
These players should be suspended.

1. You don't know the full story.
2. Keep in mind everything these players have gone through in the past 5 weeks, and the fact that they aren't on their own campus and are essentially refugees living in an environment they aren't used to.
3. Unlike some other schools, Tulane has a track record of disciplining its own student athletes strictly, and the situation will be dealt with internally according to whatever our athletic department and coaching staff learns -- end of discussion.

That's still no excuse for trying to get into a closed party after being told it was closed, if that was the case in this situation.

I agree with OJ. Frats suck. Frat boys are pu$$ies.
I also agree with OUG. There is more to the story, and it's coming out that a bunch of frat boys jumped a freshman player, and the team came back and kicked their punk asses. Whether THAT was the closed party or not is still in question.
Finally, while I don't condone violence, you have to protect your family, and your team is your family. He who sheds his blood with me shall be my brother.

The frat in question was KA, and I will not post my opinion on them on this forum, as there are ladies and Lauramac present.

Dude, thats only how the first player got jumped on Friday... by the way, I take that to mean the frat guys went out of their way to kick his arse AFTER he had tried getting into the party. I.e. multiple frat guys pounding on one kid. That's not cool.
What happened when our guys got back from Dallas is what the article discusses. About 20 of the guys went to the house after the team returned from Dallas (they were told about the attack on their teammate on the way back from the game)....they weren't trying to get into a KA party, they were trying to tell the frat guys... "you can't go jumping one of our guys without having problems with all of us"... I'm sure it was just a show of strength.
If this was the all-out brawl between 30-40 young guys, you'd think there would be a hell of a lot more than three minor injuries. Sounds like a shoving match, a minor scuffle.
I'm actually kind of proud of these guys for sticking up for one another like that.
You've got to understand, right now, after the past month, relying on one another is ALL these guys have left.

End of discussion my a$$.
OKAY, if this one player got jumped, how is it he wasn't injured. Why didn't he file a police report? Sounds to me that he crashed the party was told to leave. Maybe he refused or started trouble and was forcibly removed.
So what does he do? Looks like he rounds up a posse of 20 Tulane football players go looking for trouble. They find it, and three La Tech students sustain injuries.
Inexcusable and embarrassing for Tulane. The only thing more embarrassing (and ridiculous) is seeing the Tulane fans try to justify the behavior of these thugs.
And this is not just subject to the judgement of Tulane. These individuals are now under La Tech jurisdiction too, and they will answer to that institution.

Even without Katrina, you can't let your guys get pushed around.

Oh STFU.
You don't know what happened. If something untoward happened we know that TULANE will take care of it.
You want to know whats funny to me?
Seeing UAB fans and UH fans act sanctimonious about the behavior of their players. After all its not like players from these schools have never been accused of fighting or other <ahem> "scandalous" behavior.

Yeah I did football and basketball through high school. I guess the difference is my coaches demanded good conduct from us.
What makes me want to puke is the Tulane fans defending this crap.

Knight Time you don't even know what happened so keep the "they were out of line" crap off of here. We are talking about ONE freshman football player that may have tried to enter the frat house. ONE
Now the story that a La Tech student posted was that the football player was jumped by a group of frat members after trying to enter. Then when the team got back 15-20 players went to confront them. A scuffle insued and that was it. The players never tried to enter the house so lets drop that part of the rumor mill. Do you really think if it was a full out brawl that no one would have been arrested?
