It's amazing how few errors pop out when the content is actually interesting. G-Man is far cry from Birdturd.

It would be nice if brown became a bit more of a slasher, but it's hard to argue with the way he ended the season. im most interested in how all the pieces are going to fit together this year. Brown shouldn't have to carry the team as much as he did last year.

That is funny...

Sounds like Rob expects Dirk to be on the floor with him this season, moving Hak to the bench. This could remind folks of Millsap and Sanders with big guards on the floor getting after it defensively.

That still leaves a combo guard and a combo forward.

That's how I see the lineup/rotation as well.

That is an awesome bench. Great experience except behind Mehinti.
Should be a great year for UAB with all the changes the rest of the conference went through. Maybe the start of something very special with Haase that might remind some of the Anderson era. If things go good in 2017 recruiting then lookout for schools coming for Haase.

RE: Estwick: UAB leading scorer Robert Brown wants to improve one key aspect...
On paper, this appears to be the strongest team UAB has put on the court in years. I hope the "gelling time " will be minimal this season so UAB is ready to make itself known in those early games and tournaments that can position it nationally for its conference run.
I am delighted that BBHC Haase was able to hold the team together through the distractions of last season and build for the future. While we still await signs of UAB football actually becoming a reality (coach's contract, date of first scheduled games and actual groundbreaking for facility improvements), the BB team at least can take its conference standing for granted this season.

Remember how we all thought he was a slasher going into last season? And it wasn't until the conference tournament that he turned into an above average shooter. We definitely don't have our tournament run without his elevated level of play.
It'll be fun to see if he can build on his tournament success. I think our offense as a whole should be even better next year with the addition of Dirk. We'll have three to four legit three-point shooters on the floor at all times now (Nick, Rob, Dirk, Lee).

Well Rob is the best finisher we've had seen Eli, but like Eli he will have to improve his shot if he's serious about the next level. Slashing is 90's era basketball (lol), Haha has to improve this aspect of his game too.

Interesting that he's saying he needs to improve his slashing game, esp when he shot a bad percentage overall from three point range and he came in being known as a slasher. He only became a "shooter" in the postseason, when he got really hot from deep.

Yep. And we aren't even mentioning Sullivan right now. I think he's going to be a good player for us, I just don't know if that'll be next year, or a couple years from now. I'm also not 100% sold on Smallwood being in the rotation just yet. Haase will put different groups of 5 on the court, and he has options now.
We could put a lineup of rob Dirk watts Baxter and one of the bigs out there, or we could put 3 of the bigs out there with Norton and Dirk and have two very different looks. I hope nobody gets knocked out of this rotation, but it's hard to see us having enough minutes to go around right now.

If the loss of UAB football would have had no effect on UAB basketball, that might be a valid observation. I believe BBHC Haase was asked by his players about the possible results of the Dec 2, 2014 act by the UAB President more than in just casual conversation. He had to to consider the risk that some of his best players might bolt for more stable programs prior to 6/1/15. It's not like transfers in BB are unknown.
I recognized his apparent skill in holding his team together when it might have disappeared before his eyes. He could not guarantee them that UAB would remain in C-USA nor could he guarantee that they would play their next season in a league with serious tournament chances. That feat of coaching leadership might be compared to the leadership of Col. Travis at the Alamo in that he kept his men together when leaving might allow an easier / longer life.

The whole backcourt did outside of Norton.
