Scientists predict mini-ice age coming very soon.
This just came out. Due to a lull in solar activity, we're supposed to go through a mini-ice age for the next 100 or 150 years. I can't link the articles on an IPad.

So now rivers like the Hudson in NY will completely freeze over in winter. I guess we went though this about 200-300 years ago, so it happens occasionally.

I wonder if humans are responsible for this drop in solar activity.

I actually read that article. It has more to do with the sun than it does us. http://www.upi.com/Top_News/World-News/2...436649025/

I suppose I can believe that there could be a "mini-ice age" in the NE and mid-west given that it has been predicted for years. But because of climate change. I have heard about the sunspot theories but for the most part, I believe(my opinion) that is more a smokescreen answer to give anti-climate change people a "legit" reason to continue their denial.

If you can't link it, could you at least tell us the source so we can look it up?

Well, I guess I better retire down south. One, to avoid the cold, and two, to annoy all the southerners around here complaining about northern transplants. 03-wink

Just about everything that has to do with climate change has to do with the sun and not man.

I read the articles, too.

I wasn't serious about man causing the sun to enter a lull in activity.

Really? I am shocked that wasn't a serious comment. 03-lmfao

Same here.

The beauty of this state and the wonderful people here are the best kept secret in the entire country. I can't help but crack a smile when some northerner insults our state. Let them keep pretending its 1963 and stay away. lol

We are a lot like Cali, Oregon and Wash St in many respects. Our politicians can be insane at times, but the people and the land are off the charts spectacular.

Simply a wonderful place to live today.

It is a scorcher in Early-mid summer though. High heat + Ultra high humidity. 03-melodramatic

The dry air of August-Sept can't get here soon enough.

Link here says it's only supposed to last 10 years or so, from 2030 to 2040 roughly. It would be kind of cool to see a true winter in Texas. But I suspect if it does happen, it would have pretty significant consequences (mostly economic).

NASA says there was one from 1550 to 1850. The new one will be over before we notice it.

I'd rather not have a true winter here. Cooler summers would be nice.

I wonder if humans are responsible for this drop in solar activity.

So there is no such thing as global warming but we are supposed to believe that there is such a thing as global cooling?

I'll believe this when I see it. Their forecasts of upcoming solar cycles are iffy at best so far.

I had to look that one up and would suggest checking that off the list.....his is more of a consistent persistence sort....

was thinking something more like the non-scientific term of short person/short dick syndrome.....ya know, those that consistently whine about perceived unjust inadequacies

currently, there is no known cure other than an arse-whuppin'....like that being administered to an unruly child....they're wanting 24/7 unadulterated access to the candy store is their credo....then they get older.....some never figure it out....
