Woohwee you got him with that one. Best post in this thread so far.
2 separate situations. Recruiting for next year is surrounded by compete uncertainty. It's just the way it is. Any list can change at any time. With a likely coaching change, the list is meaningless. At least right now.
If we have a good year....no coaching change. So, that means...you as a fan...and supporter of the basketball program...are hoping the worst for our fans, our school, our players and our coaches?
if we have a good year, there will be a coaching change....
so, Final 4 or BUST for the "fan" base?

I was intrigued by Davis and Barford, but think if at the end of the day you end up with Fisher and say Jimario Rivers, then it's most likely a wash at worst.
I thought Davis could've been a pretty versatile guy in the Tiger program though.

so what experienced good coach is knocking down the door to come coach memphis? pearl? or do we go with the up and coming variety otherwise, which could be anyone that may take 2 or 3 years to prove himself? no doubt this looks like a 5 year plan, or so, if the latter happens.
i just hope during the interim, the current staff is as involved or more so in keeping the program relevent.

Still waiting on what would be considered a successful season for 2015-16

I'd be happy for sweet 16, although I think it's a huge longshot.
I don't care if Pastner is our coach for the next several years, just want a great program. I have my doubts that he can achieve this or not, but I hope he can. I have a feeling we will have a new coach for 2016-1017. Memphis is a big time program with big time expectations, and we pay our coach a huge salary to win games. Pastner has yet to produce these wins. I really like the guy, but in the end, it's all about winning.
Unfortunately, like others, I just don't see a great 2015-2016. I hope I'm wrong!

Actually last year was an anomaly and it was only because Nichols went down at the end. I think we would have been in the tournament again had he not got hurt. It's a killer that he left because this year's team would have had all the pieces.......let's see what happens now...

Even with Nichols not being injury the only way we were making the NCAAs was by winning the AAC tourney

Making the tourney and looking like we can compete.
With this team, that's a good season...as sad as that may be

Looking at Athlon right now. Is Jaylen Fisher really the only Memphis s area product in the top 100?

2016 is going to be ugly! The next coach is going to have a rebuild on his hands...

Pastner needs to recruit nationally. Stay away from Memphis kids.

He can't recruit nationally anymore. HAS to recruit Memphis kids...even though he hasn't done that so well lately either.

Yes, because Memphis kids are the problem, not the coach. Got it.

Fisher was at the football game Thursday with the Lawson's and Nick Marshall. They all had Memphis towels on their heads.

Gonna suck losing Shaq, Burrell, Kedren and Tarrant all at once.
However this team isn't bad for the year after.
1. G Woodson SR
2. G Crawford JR
3. G Broddie SO
4. G Randall SO
5. G Martin SO
6. G Fisher FR
7. F K.J Lawson SO
8. F D. Lawson SO
9. F/C Marshall SO
We definitely need to add some size up front. I think the guards with Damon in control will be quality. Worse case right now that could be a pretty decent back court with plenty of size.
We don't need to recruit another guard. We have enough if Fisher comes with 6. Unless some 5 star top 25 stud falls in our lap.
We need to get us 2 more SOLID bigs at a minimum and preferably another 6'7+ wing or a good tweener.
We'll see what happens...

He should recruit nationally? Lol yeah what high level non Memphis kid is coming to this nightmare. Our only hope is local kids who are loyal to this city. This program has always been about local kids making it great. I get tired of this notion that we need to stay away from Memphis kids. Memphis kids made this program without them we are nothing. Memphis produces as much if not more basketball talent than any city in the country. U would be a fool to not tap into that if you are the Memphis coach.

If that roster makes the NIT we should throw a parade.

I don't know.
I've watched years of Gregg Marshall turn frontlines with 6-8 JCs into NCAA tourney teams.
Not saying you're wrong at all, just saying...with a competent coach and a player or two, that roster isn't that bad.
Saying it another way - a solid handful of coaches are continually doing more with less - Archie Miller, Gregg Marshall, Shaka Smart, Brad Underwood, etc.
