RE: New Football Stadium Update
Football programs and stadiums don't crop up spontaneously, why must traditions? This line of reasoning seems an offshoot of your qualms with the marketing and monetization of college sports. I don't care who or what they choose (if it's not offensive or hurting anyone) so long as the players and students--most importantly--buy in to the ritual. What if we had said no, the new mascot must arise spontaneously? Well, we wouldn't have enjoyed the spontaneity that came with being chosen for the best beard among college mascots.
You can always wish in one hand and crap in the other...

Posterbuc You comments make me believe you are totally clueless when it comes to college football and college "traditions"
Running thru the T, "totally artificial, "carries no weight"
Your not a tough crowd, you are just completely out of touch.

I consider myself to be WAY above average on musical knowledge - with the exception of heavy metal, ©rap/hip-hop and electronica. I just don't think that song's ever been played at the Down Home. If it was, I missed it. (lol)
I have actually won a music trivia contest (or two?). But that was back in the late '70s or '80s, don't recall which.
[Looks like when I enter this post, it will substitute "@" for the © in relation to "rap". That shouldn't happen.] [Dang. It's even doing it here in the note. Just know that the "@" is supposed to be a "c" in parentheses.]

Constructive suggestion. Could we potentially get an ambient microphone on the field so it doesn't sound like the announce team is calling the game in a TV studio? Gives the viewer a sense of being there.

I really like the fog horn when the Bucs score.

Yes the fog horn was a great addition. Everyone around me loved it. It really added excitment. Of course no one thought of it, it was just spontaneous and artificial.

After all, we've discussed him many times on this board (maybe more in connection to Fred and the golf facility, but in general as a big donor, too).
If the new stadium was going to be named for a (big donor) person, and not an entity (like MSHA), then clearly he would have been one of the top 3-4 guesses. We pretty much knew it wasn't going to be Robertson or someone like that, so then if it wasn't MSHA, some of the very few other choices would have been: Niswonger, Greene, Powell (not likely these days), Gump (he's *much* more interested in the academic stuff), Quillen (very unlikely also), or Diehl (not hardly after how they were treated). Yes, one could have come up with other long-shot names, but really those first 3 names would have been the top guesses.
Why Buccaneerlover even foresaw this in Dec. 2012:
Quote:RE: General Mills Site
If a bank could do it, it would be Bank of Tennessee or Carter County Bank. Bill Greene built Fred Warren's little golf complex, with cash. It's the only facility that was 100 percent privately built, hence nobody can go near it.
If you get Fred Warren on board, maybe you talk Bill Greene into helping out. None of that happens with the current boob in charge.
The conversation at that point was about the location for the "new basketball arena", but still, it was well known that Greene was a rainmaker.
Also, Greene was on the committee that Rusty Crowe urged stanton to form to study the possibility for the return of football back in 2008 (which also included Robertson, Niswonger, Dick Sheridan (presaging the Sheridan-Torbush-O'Cain connection), and Jay Nidiffer (and that's not a full line-up)).
Remember the unanimous resolution from the TN Senate? That in itself didn't get the job done, but it laid some of the groundwork for moving that idea forward. I don't think most appreciate how that action sort of changed the mind-set of those who could make it happen. We all know paulie and mullins had to be ousted before it could *really* move forward. But the point is that Greene was all over this from jump street.
But just to be clear, Greene ponied up new money for this deal or it wouldn't be named for him. I know you guys know this, but some of the infrequent visitors may not. This has virtually nothing to do with his past gifts.
(Partial) refresher course for those who didn't know much (or anything!) about him - altho this is just about the merger:
Bill Greene got the ball rolling
[Disclaimer: I'm not trying to weigh in pro or con on said merger - only giving some background on how it got started for those who weren't paying attention.]

Could this possibly be *the* (in-?)famous boulder removed so that people can rub it as a "tradition"?
bouldering? Bouldergate?
Not likely, but wouldn't that be a hoot?

I'd rather it be that, than a cave system that causes a huge problem.

Does anyone know of any new additions forthcoming to the new stadium?
Will any of "Phase Two" be happening this year?

There are a lot of campus construction projects either in progress or in the planning/architectural stages. It may be a while.
1. Interprofessional Education Bldg. VA Campus-in progress
2. Fine Arts Center-in progress.
3. Culp Center Renovations-construction to begin in summer 18
4. Lamb Hall Addition-in planning stage
5. New Humanities Bldg-probably in this month's governor's budget
Completed since Dr. Noland came:
Football Stadium
Freedom Hall Renovation
Data Center Construction
Student Parking Garage
Quad Area development
Relocation of Tennis Courts and Basler Challenge Course
That is the best I can remember.

Thanks BucDoctor. Dr. Noland definitely hit the ground running when he came aboard. Go Bucs!

RE: New Football Stadium Update
Renovation of maintenance bldg.for use as football fieldhouse. Locker rooms, showers, etc. for both teams.
Other projects, new outdoor track and baseball upgrades are needed and are higher priorities than football at this time.
Football will add whatever is needed when the need is revelant.

My question is do schools like Tenn Tech, Austin Peay and TSU have field houses with their stadiums?
