Yeah I have been impressed with all the local outlets lately. JC Press has like 5-10 articles out about the stadium and this years team. WJHL had a special last night and WCYB probably has done more coverage of ETSU than UT the past couple of years. The morning show on WXSM has lots of ETSU on it.

As for Bill Meade, he will probably start into his 7th day of breaking down the Celtics-Cavs trade this afternoon...

Bill Meade sucks. They need to move his Ass to a Knoxville station and put one of the morning guys on in his place. Kenny, Bobby, or Bud would do so much better.

That is why I never listen to that station during the week. Now on Saturday's with Don Helman it is great. Bucs are front and center as it should be for the network flagship station. Saturday's when we have a game will be special because of this. I cannot wait for Saturday morning to turn on the Sports Monster!

He couldn't make it in Knoxville. He doesn't do any research before his shows and only talks about things of interest to him. He retired about 5 years ago but didn't tell his boss.

Bobby Rader, on the other hand, works ETSU in a lot and knows he has a varied listening audience. Only reason I listen to him is because they make a point to discuss ETSU.

Move football back to the dome. The sight lines are god awful.. Row 12 is about 40 yards from the field and all of 20 feet up. They messed up.

RE: New Football Stadium Update
There is absolutely no way row 12 at the new stadium is farther away than row 12 at KT.

I voted for it in sga. Then pushed for a new on campus stadium instead of the dome.. just feel like mistakes were made. It is was it is. But go Bucs!

RE: New Football Stadium Update
I was also on row 12. Kermit Tipton was much further away and felt more detached.

I have very little complaints about the stadium. It is true that I would rather be further up than this stadium allows and that the sightlines aren't great. I had that fear while touring the place. But little can be done about that until they build another deck to the visitor's side. Bathrooms and concessions seemed adequate, etc.

I was at the parking garage area for the Buc Walk so didn't get much perspective of how full/empty it was on down the line. Anyone give better insight to that? My fear originally was that the Buc Walk route was far too long.

They need to get the replays working on the video board. Really sucked not having that. Also I respectfully suggest replacing the PA announcer asap. That dude has less energy than that teacher from Ferris Bueller's day off. At the very least let the hype guy from basketball do the starting lineups.

RE: New Football Stadium Update
T shirts for everyone was a pleasant surprise. Overall a nice experience but a few things could easily be addressed and really need to be addressed.
1. Fountain drinks at the concessions stands slowed the lines to a crawl. PLEASE BRING BACK BOTTLE DRINKS. Lines weren't that long but it took more than halftime to buy food/drinks. If not corrected will drive fans away from concession sales.
2. Video board was a distraction.
3. No trash cans near the concessions stands.
4. Walkway from Lot 22a was too dark for safety.
5. Bookstore needs a permanent and nice souvenir stand. I had folks ask me where can I buy X, but X wasn't available at the pop-up they had.
6. I bought a parking pass for convenience yet had to wait in line to get into my parking lot while attendant collected money from other folks?

RE: New Football Stadium Update
Other than the need for replays I liked the video board. The place was mostly silent until those third down graphics started flashing. I really liked the interview with the QB about things nobody knew about him, etc.

I am still waiting for the game that our fans stay engaged more than the first quarter and more than half of the fans are still there at the end of games. I don't think we have had one of those yet in 2 years, part of that is our fan base, the other part is the play of the team. Having that exciting atmosphere is the next step that we need to get to as a program.

Agree about lack of trash cans now that I think of it. Easy fix. I think the permanent location for merchandise sales should be incorporated into a future building on home side with a small hall of fame exhibit and a few more bathrooms.

While yes, there need to be trash cans, I could find no recycling station or provisions for that. Did I miss it? This is ETSU's *great* opportunity to 'train' attendees/fans about how to correctly do that, and I fear it's being squandered.

I did not a recycling center at the lounge area in front of the club room.

RE: New Football Stadium Update
All in all, I thought the stadium looked great. Of course we looked for faults..as most folks do and found:

We are on row 13 on the 31 West Side...I agree, I would like the field to be a little lower..it was hard to see the band formations and a few plays develop...nothing that we couldn't live with, but near the top of the stands it would be nice to have seen a little more

the poles from the net did draw a line through the video board..no big deal

A scoreboard on the north end is needed...

Lines at concessions were too long...

And the crowd was way too quiet on the West side...

RE: New Football Stadium Update
Mobility Assistance Shuttle Service – The ETSU Department of Intercollegiate Athletics has announced a new “Mobility Assistance Shuttle Service” for home football games at the new William B. Greene, Jr. Stadium. Centrally located at the Alumni Pavilion area on the west side of the ETSU parking garage and convenient to Lots 21 and 22, the Mobility Assistance Shuttle Service will consist of golf carts that will provide rides to the stadium for disabled fans and those with mobility issues. The carts will begin service one hour prior to kickoff and take fans from the Alumni Pavilion to the Bank of Tennessee East Entrance roundabout. The carts will also provide service from the roundabout back to the Alumni Pavilion area at the conclusion of the game. Signs designating the pickup area prior to games will be visible on game days. The ETSU Department of Intercollegiate Athletics asks that only fans in physical need of this service utilize the shuttles.

RE: New Football Stadium Update
That's good news - I think.

Been meaning to post another "complaint", although it's really trivial.
I think it's SOOO artificial to have that rock that fans are supposed to touch on their way in. It's just a rock they dug up during construction. It's nothing special. It could have been any one of dozens, probably. I understand what they're trying to do, but it loses it's significance (not that there was any to lose) when it's so obviously contrived. I guess they're trying to copy what Clemson(?) does - and there may be other places that have something similar.

I could see it if it was Jerry Robertson's old helmet from back when he played, or John Robert Bell's overcoat, or part of the old goalposts from the field from before the dome was built, the horns from one of the billygoats, or something along those lines. But just a normal rock that was dug up? Not so much.

Now **maybe**.........in another 80 years, it *could* mean something, but I don't think so. Do you all feel similarly? I'm ALL for tradition, etc., but this is just so completely artificial that it's counterproductive, IMO.

I don't fault them for trying something.

Every tradition has a genesis. Don't touch it if you think it's silly. I do understand your point somewhat but they're trying very hard to create a football culture. Perhaps a globe on a pedestal incorporating the E would have been less contrived. The globes have significance according to the alumni association. http://www.etsualumni.org/s/974/mobile/m...&pgid=1221

Yes! Actually, those would be PERFECT! They were "around" not *all* that long ago. They may have even been discussed on this board numerous years ago. THAT is the solution, if they can be located. 1,000 times better!
That's just a fabulous suggestion - truly.

"Trying very hard to create a football culture" is great, but contrivance works against that - imo. Most traditions "evolve" on their own, with their own weight and significance. It can't be artificially conjured out of essentially nothing - no matter how hard one tries.
