Not only is the university planning on increasing student enrollment, in just a few years time a football stadium will be a part of the landscape at ETSU.

“The plan is still to begin construction on the new football stadium toward the end of November,” said Michael White.

“We are going to have tailgating on campus, we want to know what the best time is to close lots down,” said King.

Hopefully it wont be as many delays on this project. The time frame has always been around October/November. Maybe they will use either the fall break or thanksgiving break to rearrange parking for the start of construction.

Pardon my doubt, but I don't expect a high quality stadium to be completed by 2017. Maybe a rushed stadium. Will not be surprised when they say 2018 to get it done right, and certain features are cut due to rising cost.

Going on past projects your doubt would be completely understood. This is a new regime so maybe things will change.

Even if it is rushed and incomplete like the baseball stadium would be fine with me. Getting something on campus for tailgating is what I am looking forward to. I would imagine the field house can be something that can wait.

I think it is important to get this done. Even if it is half built with only a flat field and half the seating capacity, it is important to open in 2017. A third year at Science Hill would be a disaster, in my opinion. They have had PLENTY of time to get things ready for this project, and apparently the money is there. There are no excuses to not get this moving.

That's a good point about the rising cost.. just a few years back UT remodeled Neyland Stadium.. It went several years past the projected completion.. and instead of the projected 100 million dollar cost.. it doubled to 200 million! The sooner we can get this project started.. the better!!!

I know the stadium wasn't set to be fully complete in 2017 anyway. The endzone seats and press box aren't supposed to be finished until 2018.

I would imagine if/when Kenny Chesney decides to donate it will be made into a huge announcement. This seems like them saying he is involved without going into how much yet.

How about a concert in the new stadium, with proceeds going to the football program and/or stadium costs?

Looks like Food City gave 200,000 (I believe this is separate than the 250,000 that owner Steve Smith gave).

They have tore down a climbing wall that was at the stadium site and are about to close down the parking lots that will be host to the foundation of the stadium.

Do you know when they close the lots?
