Has Urban ever explained how he was capable of coaching OSU so quickly after leaving UF?

He said he was going the chill and let his assistants do pretty much everything.

Yeah, he has stepped back and learned to delegate and let assistants do their job more (according to reports).

That said, that is pretty funny. He is a public figure, he by all reports is healthy...imho take a joke Urban.

The story I always heard, that made it's rounds throughout the south several years ago, was the whole reason he left UF was because of his relationship with a co-ed there but they used the "supposed" health issues to cover that up.

I always thought it wouldn't be THAT far fethced to assume that he just took one look at his players (maybe knew about Aaron Hernandez ahead of time) and decided he just needed a fresh start. The health problems always sounded like bs to me.

Yeah I heard that too.

The whole thing with him landing at OSU does not pass the smell test IMO. I was living in Columbus when all of this went down. Even before Jim Tressel had his scandal, there was a lot of talk there that he was going to retire when his contract expired (I believe it was set to expire in 2012). There was a lot of talk there that Meyer wanted to coach at Ohio State.

Urban takes his "leave of absence" and became a color commentator on ESPN, but his contract with ESPN stated he would only do Big Ten games (how does that happen exactly?). Then the Tressel scandal breaks and the rest is history.

Wasn't just Hernandez. As of 2013 41 players on the 2008 National Championship team were either arrested in college or shortly thereafter. FWIW, many of those guys were still on the team that UC faced in the 2010 Sugar Bowl.

Real Sports played the 911 call his wife made. No clue about the girlfriend rumors or why he ultimately left Florida, but he definitely had health problems.

Being a Div. I football coach is a stressful*, demanding occupation, especially at the top of the pyramid. Meyer was probably battling acid reflux brought on not only by long hours and the stress of his day-to-day activities, but also by the realization that, at Florida, the program's ascendency was in the rearview mirror. So, time to move on, with an excuse that would elicit nothing but feelings of sympathy and understanding from his erstwhile Gator supporters. His exit from Gainesville was a lot more graceful than, say, BK's was from Cincy.

There's nothing like a year's rest, a fresh start, an outsized salary, and a handful of purple pills to make a guy feel better.

* Except at Cincinnati, apparently. CTT hasn't aged a bit during his tenure at UC. In fact, he always looks remarkably composed and relaxed even when he shouldn't.

Reliable medical personnel told me his medical issue was "his wife was going to shot him in the arse if he did not stop tackling a FL coed".

Having a choice between yellow, sandy brown or executive platinum hair from week to week helps keep it exciting.

One tends to have health issues when the wife finds out one is having extracurriculars with young nubile coeds.
