I'm just wondering if JMUNation was there to experience the glorious triumph over Va Tech?
HyperDuke attended & talked tons of smack beforehand to VPI&SU alums. Ended up staying in Blacksburg that night just to wear purple around those mouth-breather fans a little longer.

I'll admitt prior to both the Tech and UVA wins, I was a little cautious with the smack. It was made up after the fat lady sang at both events. I guess the UVA win was a little more meaningful to me due to dating a Wahoo at the time.
Question for all: Do you prefer a victory at home over a tough hard fought game against a quality opponent or is it sweeter if played on the opposition's turf?

Tough question given our options, or lack thereof, for opponents home/road. Not a criticism, just a fact of FCS life. There's no doubt I'll be lording the Tech win over my in-laws forever and that was incredible, but '08 App is my personal favorite JMU game ever and I'd prefer that. I think it's the feeling, however misguided or untrue, that we the fans are contributing to the outcome in a small way. That's much tougher on the road, with '04 W&M semi being a rare exception - probably my second favorite game.

I think I like the road victory as long as I have someone close who is an alumni of the school. I want them to witness the smack down so I have no need to speak, only grin.

Chatty was the game for me. Started with a lot of angst as Montana was moving the ball at will with their passing game. JMU's offense was struggling early. As the game wore on, JMU started to take control of the line of scrimmage and the rest is history.
Playing for an NC made it more exciting because more was on the line.

The photo on the field of you, me, and Flip that night in Chatty is one of my favorite pictures of all time!
Love that picture too John and the one with myself and Rascatti. While others hit the bars to celebrate, I stayed to soak it all in. Justin came walking by after his post game interview. I was in the right place at the right time and he was kind enough to take the picture with me. I don't know if any sports memory will ever top that one for me. Been a lot of great ones through the years but JMU winning a football national championship was beyond my wildest dreams.

Undefeated.
Going undefeated is possible. Unlikely, but possible. If the defense steps up, it becomes more likely. While I think we should roll in our first three games (heavy favorites at home) before heading to SMU, I'm looking for the D to work out some kinks and get some newbies some valuable experience. More 3-and-outs. Give Vad and the O the ball more frequently and in better field position. If we win shootouts against the likes of Lehigh and Albany, then there is no way we go undefeated and I'd even say my prediction of 9-2/7-1 heading into the playoffs is definitely at risk. I don't worry about our 3rd stringers giving up a couple of late TD's, but hopefully our 1st and 2nd team D can limit our first 3 opponents to 10 pts or less heading into the 4Q.
Withers is supposed to be a strong D coach. Hopefully we'll see progress in Year 2.

3 times.
Four actually.
2007 Appalachian State beats #5 Michigan
2010 James Madison beats #13 Virginia Tech
2013 North Dakota State beats #24 Kansas State
2013 Eastern Washington beats #25 Oregon State
I'd like to point out that the year we beat our ranked team they still ended the year ranked, unlike two of the others. In fact when viewed over the team's entire season we actually beat the highest ranked team. Go Dukes!
