This is just more of it. Conservatives get pissy because the sign on the kids door says Happy Holidays instead of Merry Christmas. Liberals get their panties in a wad if a picture book doesn't have any black kids in it. You guys sit here and harp on your differences so much you fail to see how alike you are. And to me you're both being little ******* that are drawing attention and resources away from more important things.

So a guy reads a story that has two guys get married. So what? It happens, get used to it. It's not 50 Shades of Gray. It's no more sexual than a story with a Prince and Princess. If he's teaching that being gay is the best thing since sliced bread then yeah that's not good but if he's just demonstrating that gay people exist and they may be different from you but you should still treat them with respect then I don't see anything wrong with that. Same goes for people of different religions, you may think and teach your kids that both Hindus and gays are going to hell but I hope you at least teach them to treat them as you'd like to be treated and if you're not then I have no problem with the schools doing it for you.

But you guys go ahead and scrub and sterilize society to the point nobody can say anything, it's fine.

If you want to teach your 3rd grader that gay people exist, by all means do so, but it is not educational and needs to stay out of the schools. The only "moral" lesson the schools need to teach is to follow the rules, which do not permit treating people poorly, whether they are gay, black, red, yellow, poor, short, or fat.

That's fine but like I said you're guilty of the same PC BS you accuse the left of.

Tell me more.

What do you want to hear Ever? That as someone who considers themselves politically moderate, tries to see both sides of an issue and believes that without some serious compromising done in our govt. we're going to get nowhere fast regardless of who's in charge both of the political wings in this country seem like spoiled little whinny babies? Well, it's true. I'm unapologetic about it and I'm not alone in my thinking.

Well maybe I jumped the gun on that one, there's nothing in your post that shows you're guilty of that, so I apologize to you , I assumed too much.

I think I made my position clear enough, if you think schools should stick to the three R's and add in some PE and arts I can agree with that. But there's no reason to wipe out any mention of religion or homosexuality or any other hot button item just because they're politically charged. That, in my mind is being PC and it's something I feel the right is just as guilty of and it's just as obnoxious when done.

Again, wasn't trying to attack you Ever.

I've thought that the right is not really PC, in fact they're anti-PC. They're more like Archie Bunker. I will agree that the far left certainly is too PC.

No problem, thanks. To be fair, I think religion should not be in schools either unless brought up in historical context in history. If people think their religion needs to be taught in public school, they obviously aren't doing a good job at home.

04-cheers

I agree with that, some are overly sensitive about it. I don't identify as Christian but I've got no problem with the wording of the pledge of allegiance or if groups of students want to pray. But yeah that's not what they're there for.

Well maybe PC's not the right term or maybe it depends on what your politics are as far as what politically correct means to you. Most people won't be offended if you tell them Happy Holidays or Merry Christmas but people make a stink about both.

RE: A little sanity at an NC public school
I am not offended if someone wishes me a happy holidays. They are doing it in good faith with good intentions. I tend to say Merry Christmas, but I am not such an assh*le that I will say that if I know someone is Jewish (that would not be in good faith).
