Can't imagine that any diehard Tar Heel fans would give up their tickets to buy season tix at Duke or NCSU, or vice versa. The base of season ticket holders, especially at large public schools, is alums, boosters, and other people with a real connection to the school. They're not likely to switch from season tix at one school to a rival school; if they make any switch away from their college team, it's likely to be a switch to buying pro team tickets.

You are undermining your own argument. If the fanhood is loyal to a particular school or product, then it would not matter if an NBA team were in a market. You can't have it both ways.

Would it be an SEC or Big Ten circle jerk if someone posted football attendance numbers, or income numbers?

They do leave out this important stat:

Conference Average:
1. Big Ten 12,781
2. Atlantic Coast 11,368
3. Southeastern 10,819
4. Big 12 10,181
5. Big East 9,853

That's why I made the comment that I made. This is obviously an ACC circle jerk thread created from stats that are not just about the ACC.

It's what little brothers do.

You seriously trying to say the Big Ten is better than the ACC? LOL win a title someday then we'll talk. Until then...you are down the ladder

this was an attendance thread started by an ACC poster, bragging about how well attended the ACC games are. I merely pointed out that top-to-bottom, the B1G is better attended.

No mention of titles, results, etc. So start a thread about that if you want.

If it was someone cherry picking just the SEC or Big Ten numbers from an all encompassing report and posting it on the main forum instead of the conference forum? Yes and I am sure it has probably happened before.

You guys have the largest following on the ACC forum in comparison to the forums of the other Major Conferences at this site so to make this thread on this forum, it isn't reaching out to the ACC folks, it is reaching out to everyone. Nothing against the creator of the thread, but it is what it is.

Not surprising, since the Big East conference board had one of the largest followings prior to some of us going to the ACC. 03-wink

The ACC board was dead prior to some of us moving over. It got really big when Louisville came in to replace Maryland. And if the conference ever adds WVU watch out. 03-lmfao

Cheers,
Neil

Have people forgotten that THIS VERY BOARD right here was actually spun off of the old Big East board, and that is used to be a subdivision of it?

Whoops. Guess all the cocky Louisville fans forgot to look at that. Funny as hell having a team who was not even in the conference bragging about that. Reminds me of aTm fans.

It is obvious why Cuse would put this out. Funny how they don't' talk about their other sports attendance LOL.

It is impressive that the ACC teams can get that much support for BB games. Helps to make up for playing in half full football stadiums.

All that being said Iowa State has the best fan support IMO. I doubt many schools in the ACC have a better combined average for FB, BB, and WBB than Iowa State.

I can only quote the ones I know, but Louisville averages 21k, 53k, and just under 10k (note women's BB and FB are virtually tied between the two, with UofL slightly edging them in both). But I am pretty sure Tennessee wins this competition by a landslide, since they lead in women's attendance most years (not this year though), are in the top portion of men's BB around 15k, and of course bring in 100k or so for football. South Carolina is in there as well as the lead in WBB attendance, have quality football attendance, and respectable MBB attendance.

In a way, South Carolina has the best fan support. They have great men's basketball attendance even though they haven't made the NCAA tournament in over 10 years, and they had great football attendance even when their teams were brutally bad before the coaching tenures of Holtz and Spurrier.

Lots of teams can fill the bandwagon when they win every year (with fans who claim they've been following the team their whole lives), but you know you really have dedicated fans when they show up in numbers to watch very bad teams.

Dude...it was a thread about Hoops attendance. It was relevant since the info was just released. BTW, we draw about 40k in FB and about nothing in Women's Hoops. Cuse leads the nation in lacrosse attendance though.

Its a lot more than that. Try 4140 per game in 2014. Havent got 2015 figures yet, but its expected to lead the nation again as it has for many years now..

Our local paper (Syracuse.com) announced it...last year. It went up this year so it is a pretty safe bet they will still be #1. It might be sourced through laxpower.com or insidelacrosse.com not sure...but it was obvious watching games they bring about 5k on average to games.

So you're saying ISU would average 106K a game for Football...that is double what Louisville is currently averaging in Football...

RE: ACC Has #1 and 3 of Top 4 in BB Attendance Last Season
I think the ACC is no comparison in the least to the BIG. The ACC is academically and athletically inferior.

I went to grad school and worked at an ACC school for several years. Football is so big in the ACC that I never knew when or if they ever had a game. There is nothing like game day on a BIG campus.
