What will be the biggest OOC win for the ACC in 2015?
Last year it was VT @ Ohio State, then USC @ BC and GT @ UGA. What about this season?

RE: What will be the biggest OOC win for the ACC in 2015?
I'm not going to say these will all be wins, but if they are wins, I would rank these as the best OOC wins in this upcoming season.

VT defeating OSU (basically the consensus #1 going into the season) would be without a doubt the best OOC win for the ACC this year as well.

GT defeating UGA and ND both ranked slightly ahead of the Jackets would be huge wins for the ACC this year.

Louisville defeating Auburn would be the next best win for the ACC this year.

SU beating LSU would follow those above, might actually say more about LSU though than SU.

After that the majority of OOC games are where the ACC team should be favored or involve ND so to make the possible wins by both GT and/or Clemson over ND valuable, it might be best for them to lose those games.

Now, of course, I don't think they will get all of the above, but I think that is how I would rank them even if they turned out to all be wins.

Cheers,
Neil

FSU/ND was the biggest. Huge matchup before ND tanked late-season with huge ratings.

Either gt/uga or ul/aub I guess. Not vt because the acc at least needs a chance to win the game. Not sure how good uf or scar will be. Miami has opportunities.

UL/Auburn open the season. That could be pivotal for the ACC if UL can pull off the W.

A win over Boise St in late Sept. could set the stage for a respectable season and a Bowl game for Virginia. A respected Virginia = a respected ACC.

I agree that it would be nice to see UVa beat Boise St, but WHAT IN THE WORLD ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT WITH THAT LAST SENTENCE?

Well, I finally understand the case for the ACC wanting to be the PAC of the EAST.
That being said, I see Virginia playing the role of Stanford. Hence, my statement:
A respected UVA = a respected ACC.
I understand Stanford is a Private but athletically and focus on Olympics, I see them as same.

FSU has been around the block a few times - how important do YOU think UVa is to ACC football (note: I assume that VT will be up when UVa is down, last year notwithstanding).

Another SEC rivalry week sweep. Accept no lesser substitutes.

Don't worry about that. VT loses to ECU once every 10 years. It won't happen again until 2024.

FSU has been around the block a few times - how important do YOU think UVa is to ACC football (note: I assume that VT will be up when UVa is down, last year notwithstanding).

You realize that you, as a VT fan, counts as a "non-new ACC member", whereas UL, being a one-year member of the ACC, absolutely counts as a new ACC member, right?

But Virginia has literally ZERO bearing on how the ACC is perceived in football. I mean, sure, it'd be nice if they didn't go 2-10 (0-8), but they will very, very rarely even challenge for the NY6/CFP. For one, VT is a much better football school in the same state. And secondly, UVA has no history whatsoever and no football value to promote. They're quite simply irrelevant.

What does the ACC need in order to be "respected"?

* Someone other than FSU to play for a national title
* Miami to get out of its decade-long suck
* GT to decide to actually play big boy football
* VT to hire the right coach post-Beamer
* UL to continue their trajectory
* FSU and Clemson to be FSU and Clemson

Nobody else matters. Nor is it likely they will ever matter.
