Anyone ever move power lines?
My wife and I are considering some land for sale in Fayette County. Only problem with the property is some large power lines that run across it. That's not a major issue, except that they kind of lie right where we'd eventually build a house. Anyone know if it's possible to have them moved? There's a chance they are TVA lines, FWIW.

You are up the creek without a paddle on this one. If they are lines suspended on the large steel tressels they are TVA lines, there is no chance they can be move. Sorry

Oh sure they can. For seven figures. If they are indeed tva. Then you have the right of way issues.Even if they are local lines they would prolly not like you building under them. Not a good situation.

Zoning will not allow any building under the power lines. The only thing allowed is parking lots I think.

RE: Anyone ever move power lines?
A few years ago I inquired with MLGW because we were thinking about building a pool and it would have required the relocation of power lines. The cost was going to be over $40k just for the power lines.

RE: Anyone ever move power lines?
We looked at a house in Eads that had a power line easement running next to it. That was a draw for me b/c I knew it meant a ton of land that next to us that no one could live on. It was like buying 2 acres and getting about 10 times that. Even better was the house couldn't even be seen from the road. Everything was just about perfect. Only drawback is the house is still in Shelby County, so we keep on looking.

Or Fayette, just over the border like me. I have four acres, and the subdivision is all like that. PM me if you want some directions.

I know, it's a neat little place, what I really meant was you don't have to go too far into Fayette to find a nice place. Sadly, the county is full and nobody else is allowed to move here.

If you do it will become a frequent trip. It is Backermann's Bakery. It is owned by Mary & Earl Yoder, Mark Yoder is the store manager. They have insane breads, cheeses, grass feed beef, just a wide variety of bulk foods, and first cream butter. It is fun to go shopping at Backermann's. You gotta get the butter. You won't believe how much better it taste than what you get at a regular grocery store. Plus take out food and sandwiches. They have the best oatmeal and raisin cookies ever. Fortunately I can get the same butter and oatmeal/raisin cookies at Easy Way (comes from them), but if I couldn't I would be going up there more often. You live so close as compared to me. We live near the U of M campus. But I am used to the drive about once a month now since my parents passed away. Used to go more often when my mother was in NHC nursing home in Somerville. My parents moved to Oakland back about 1974. Wasn't much there then. Just a small farming community. Hardly recognizeable now. Anyway Backermann's is a gem you don't want to miss. It is right on 64 on the right, look for the sign.

I'll make a point of it when I can. It's about a half hour from me, but that's not bad. Sounds like a neat place.
