Currently reading The Life and Death of Adolf Hitler. Plan on reading The Timber Wolf in Wisconsin.

I crushed 'The Martian' in two days. I'm looking forward to the movie.

I've also read, 'The Accidental Superpower', 'Superpower', and 'Man in Full'. I plan to start 'Once Upon a Time in Russia' next month.

I liked "The Martian". Looking forward to the movie with some trepidation though. They always over-dramatize things and make it less subtle and nuanced, which I don't like, though it's probably less important for this book than the literary classics.

Who wrote "Once upon a time in Russia"?

I also have a book on Soviet Foreign policy from WWI up to WWII that I'll probably be reading next month.

Side question for folks here, about how many hours per week do you spend reading for personal reasons and/or entertainment?

I would guess 4-5 hours for me, though it varies. It's close to double that if I include audiobooks, though I now have a short commute to work so that's more limited.

I walk 6 mile and audio books help pass the time.

RE: What books have you been reading this summer?
Reading the book "Ebola: A novel of the first outbreak, by a doctor who was there" about the original outbreak back in the mid 1970s and the Belgium nuns, Zaireain officials, and CDC doctors who worked to treat and contain the disease. Has great moments surrounded by pages of pages and boring and repetitive prose.

Sandman Slim, the first book in a series about a guy who escapes from Hell to take revenge on people who wronged him. Fun book.

A decent amount. On the weekends I'll do about 10. I do about the same at work. It's been sloooooow.

The Gospel of Matthew, John, Romans, The Acts, most of Pauls books.

Probably will be spending a lot of time in Isaiah and Ezekiel as well.

I would highly suggest "Evidence that demands a verdict" by Josh McDowell.

"The Cellist of Sarajevo". Spent some time there during the Balkan War and trying to understand how people that once lived peacefully together broke into such nationalistic camps once they tasted a little democracy. Interesting stuff.

I always pegged it as regressed emotions after years of occupation by other empires. Once you are free, you never wish to go back or share.

from the viewpoint of the 'other' side....I say kudos and 04-cheers

IMO, it's important to view from that side of the mirror for the masses

I spent 35+ years as a well seasoned non-beliver, so I can pretty well assure you I've been there.

It wasn't a blind leap of faith that changed my mind. It was a long, serious, in depth study of the Word of God (particularly prophecy) and its remarkable historical and present day accuracy. Including the incredible amount of 2000-3000 year old manuscripts and scrolls that prove what we have today is what was actually written 2500 years ago.

I had no idea about any of that stuff until I began really looking into it for myself. Honestly, most Christians don't even look into that aspect of it, because they simply trust in Christ and his message. The world and pop culture had always taught me that we had no way of knowing if what was written WAS what was written, and that it was just as unprovable and unremarkable as all other religious writings.

The truth turned out to be 180 degrees opposite of that.

Field Marshal Tito ruled with an iron fist, but people that had Ottoman, Hapsburg, Jewish, and Orthodox backgrounds were able to form a country that thrived (relatively) behind the Iron Curtain. When Tito died, and the Serbian-officer dominated military started enforcing more ethnic interests, all bets were off. Such a shame, as the ideal of a secular, peaceful society in a former Ottoman Empire backwater was a pretty spectacular thing.
